Just starting to get the hang of it, and can't pick strategies without knowing the answers to these questions.

How many votes you need for a diplomatic victory?

How can I get a chart to see how much culture is required for each new social policy?

Do you get culture from a Puppet?

How is unit maintenance calculated? Does it take more maintenance when the unit is far from the capital? Does it take less maintenance for units in a city?

How do you tell if a conquered city has a wonder?

Can you raze a city after you made it your puppet? If so, how do you do it?

yes

There have been a lot of complaints about the lack of info on this. I don't think it matters where the unit is. Empirically, maintenance goes in pairs -- delete one unit, nothing changes; delete a second, maintenance drops by 4 or 5.

How do you tell if a conquered city has a wonder?
Before you conquer it, scroll in as close as you can to the map, and look. Yet another lack of decent interface. In IV, this was how it originally worked, though they eventually patched it so you could check the city screen before deciding to keep or raze.

Can you raze a city after you made it your puppet? If so, how do you do it?
Yes, but you have to annex it first. So it will contribute more to your unhappiness for a little while as it burns.

In order to raze a captured city, you have to Annex it first. Then there is a "Raze" button in the city screen.

Most wonders can be seen on the map, but in order to tell for sure you have to look in the city screen, and you can't do that unless you Annex the city first. Yeah, it's stupid.

I believe you do get culture from a Puppet.

Each social policy costs more than the last one, and is increased for each city you have. So I don't think it's possible to make a "chart" of the costs.

Unit maintenance also appears to increase the more units you have, but I don't think distance from the capital or being outside friendly borders (or in a city) has any effect on it.

Im finding that each cultural policy is costing me about 120 more than the previous one, thats with 2 cities and the policy that lowers cost by 20%. (This is also like once I have a bunch of them, I dont think its purely linear but the farther along you go i think the more it gets and the bigger effect the additional city modifier has)

1. Do you pay for maintenance for workers too?

2. I read that social policies cost 15% more culture for each new city you have. I also read the number is 30%. Which one is right?

1. Do you pay for maintenance for workers too?

Yes. Maintenance is paid for every unit you have, including great people. The cost of each unit is the same, no matter what kind it is.

2. I read that social policies cost 15% more culture for each new city you have. I also read the number is 30%. Which one is right?

Both numbers are right. It scales to the size of the map. 30% for normal and below, 15% for huge.

Yes. And supposedly you also pay upkeep for great people.

That depends on the size of the map. On larger maps the penalty for additional cities is smaller.

^^^^ That web link gives the penalty as 30%. This is only for one map size, and I can't even figure out which map size. One other poster suggested that for the Huge map size, the penalty is 15%.

Anyone know the penalty for each and every map size?

If you are going for a cultural victory, you have to know the penalty. Otherwise you will have no clue how many cities to build.

So where is a chart for each map site saying the penalty for an extra city?

From my experiments (starting a bunch of games on different map sizes) it seems the penalty is 30% on Standard and smaller map sizes. On Large it's 20% and on Huge it's 15%.
