I have Problems with "Modbuddy" (personally I used to like more the traditional way of XML editing, with NotePad C+++). I cant make my custom civ to show in the game, I have reviewed tons of times my XML files, and the problem comes when I try to add the Leader. I let the standard leader (Montezuma) and it works fine but after trying to add the new leader the game don't show it. And Im not even including art, im only changing names and the leader type, I also created a trait from "siberian ritches".

I think the Kael's modding guide is awesome, but I (and I know many others) need a "Modding for dummies Guide for CiV" and step by step.

Adding Icons in dds. its another problem, I use DXTBmp for converting to dds. but I don't know if its like Civ IV DDS DXT3, 2 or 1.

If someone knows the common Errors and how to solve them please share the wisdom with us, and if someone could add a guide for adding a civ it would be appreciated :).

Ok, I get my civ to show up, it was a problem in the "Properties->Actions" part  but now... I cant change the Trait. Its always the same (The sacrificial) even when theres nothing about the aztecs in the files! someone knows why? I revised the "row"'s, one by one and the same things happens. Also the "Down of man" screen comes in black with the Civ quote box and pyramids buttons where units/bouildings should be, In the civ selections I only can select it in the advanced options. The text and gameplay are right; I can play normally, I can build the UB and UU, the Civ color is fine. Do you know why this happens?

Ok heres the modbuddy file, theres not new art (by now) thanks for the help! :D its not the final version btw

One of ModBuddy's features is to add an existing XML. You can do all your modding in notepad and then simply use that.

I know, but I have to evolve anyway, so im trying my best :P. There are things in Modbuddy that makes life easier.

I'm having the same problem, i was modifying another person's mod (using it as a basis) but somehow between me changing names and files the mod works, however it will not show up in the list of playable civs, the scroll bar also has vanished.
however i can choose the civ in the advanced set up options, any ideas?

I have the same problem and never found a fix. If ya find one, let me know too please :goodjob:

In your custom Civ xml, if you use or the Civ was made before 1.0.0.621, you have to delete the entry:- <Civilopedia>TXT_KEY_CIV_CIVNAMEHERE_PEDIA</Civilopedia> for it to show up without having to go to advance setup.

I actually gave up on my modding efforts. I never could get my civilization to show up. One problem with Civ V compared to Civ IV is that the earlier game showed the files loading on start up, so if the game hung up, you see which file was causing the problem. Debugging in Civ V feels too much like Blind Man's Bluff.

in the end, though, I gave up mostly because I just don't enjoy playing Civ V enough to go through all the work of modding it. Maybe someday.....

I did that and the scroll bar is still gone.
