Bismarck with lipstick…
I wanted to make things a little easier in my first Deity game, so I choose to play against four opponents instead of five on a small map. Im playing as Carthage on a continents map with 60% water.
It feels like Im doing quite well. Ive just switched to Republic and Im at tech parity. I have horses and two luxuries, but no iron. Theres still some land to settle.
France just demanded the Republic and I said no, since theyre not on the same land mass. I have no plans to try to invade them on their continent. I just figured the war happiness would be helpful, and a golden age from one of Joans troops dying on my Numidian mercenaries would be welcome. The Sumerians on their continent are also at war with the French.
The problem is that I dont have a clear strategy for the future of this game. Im alone with the Iroquois on my continent, and I guess the best thing would be to go to war with them. Im gonna go for domination, and if that seems too difficult, I dont have a problem with going for space race or diplomacy.
I dont have nearly enough troops for a war with the Iroquois yet, but I have ivory so I could build the Statue of Zeus and attack once the ancient cavalry arrives. If I switch my FP build to SoZ Ill have the statue in 24 turns. (Or probably less, since the town will grow.) Or perhaps I should start the Statue in some other town, since I should be the only one with Ivory and there's no race for it? Or is it more important to start the war as soon as possible, before my opponents grow too strong?
The Iroquois dont have any iron connected, and maybe its possible that there isnt any on the mainland of our continent? I think thats fully possible on a small map with only four opponents.
Could it be wise to sign RoP with Hiawatha for 20 turns to scout his lands before the war?
Im posting a save with the current state of the game. Any advice would be welcome! (Im planning to switch the temples Im currently building to libraries as soon as I get literature.)
