My input to Firaxis

No, no in fact I didn't speak of tedious micromanagement, I don't want it. I warned - do not add odd things like in Call to Power or Empire Earth. Historical games with their feeling ruined by units and powers that don't fit with the theme of the game, like Trip said. Of course the game must be balanced and fun, but I don't accept simple variations - Panzers with flamethrowers - only because they are COOL (maybe COOL is the correct term, it avoids misunderstandings).

Look, I'll be fair and admit that Call to Power I and II got a LOT of things wrong (like space and underwater cities), but they also did things which I felt Firaxis were MAD not to incorporate into Civ3. Visible trade routes which could be pirated/embargoed was one excellent feature, as was the move away from 'population heads' and the ability to set national rations, work hours and wages! I can only hope, then, that these good elements of CtP are incorporated into civ4!

Accuracy over COOL, I can agree with.

As an example of why COOL can be bad, I look no further than C3C armies. They're most definitely cool. They are still fun in some ways, but the fun factor is greatly diminishing as the brokenness and inaccuracy comes to the forefront.
