Recent events in my life, have caused me to step back and reflect. I've come up with a probable plan and tried to schedule my life for the next few years.

Background Info (For those who don't already know): I'm a 19 year old Canadian living in Florida. I'm currently working for Convergys as a Dell Technical Support Representive. (Phone Support)

1) October 19th: Pay my car payment. I've decided to pay the whole sum. I fear losing my job is envidable. ($1400)
2) October 20th-30th: Loose my job. (They said in August that we should transfer to the Cablevision account because the calls would probably end in late October but since then Dell Sales has moved into the building) I will probably move over part-time to Dell Sales.
3) Winter Simester (2001): Start a networking course at the local collage. Probably a 1 year course on Network administration. And maybe programming. (I plan on doing this anyway regardless of losing my job or not.)
4) Winter 2002-Spring 2003): Graduate with honors ;) from Collage. Move back to Canada (Newfoundland) in search of a job as a Network Administrator.
4a) If that fails then look into starting a Province-wide Call Center for handling computer troubles over the phone. (This will likely cost too much so....)
4b) If that fails, then open up shop in St. Johns, Newfoundland or Gander, Newfoundland as a freelance programmer, webdesignier, PC repair, and computer skillz teacher.
5) With either of those 3 jobs, I will also pick up Figure Skating again and become at least become a Level 2 certified coach. Which will help infuse the income. ($17.00 an hour as a starting rate. :D)

And then I'm back where I love to live, doing the sport I love to do, and working with stuff I love to work with! It can't get much better. What do you guys think??

Your choice to come back to Newfoundland, i would move to another province, but we frogs have a problem with Newfoundland :frog: Must be some inferiority complex :p;) But if thats what u really want, the program seems good to me, except loosing your job, since its must be kind of hard to know in advance that you'll become unemployed... Hope your dreams will come true Corn :)

Gander is an interesting choice...I've laid over there twice on military hops...can't imagine there would be much need for a network administrator there...

Be sure to include "I am a communist" on all your employment applications.:sniper:

I think you guys should learn a lesson in humility.

I asked for opinions and you mock me.

It's not been accepted kindly....and will be remembered when I go crazy and start deleting and editing people's posts. ;) j/k

They're just jealous. ;) Sounds like a good plan, CornMaster.

Renounce all that you come from and become a fanatic enemy of western civilization. Finance and plot acts of destruction from a cave in a far-off third world country and become infamous.

Oh, I'm sorry. That job is taken.

LOL, nothing is the matter with figure-skating communists ;). in fact, if all the communists in the world were figure-skaters, we could keep them on ice.

Seriously, I've been to Gander a lot, esp. during the Persian Gulf War period. It was almost always dark, and always cold. But then, it seemed all the big crises in Europe and Asia that require a refueling stop in Gander happen in the winter, LOL. Not sure why that happens. But it does seem that ice skating is particularly well suited to the Gander environment.

The funniest thing I ever saw in Gander was a silly Russian pilot (Aeroflot) slam his wingtip smack dab into the Gander ops building a few years back. That was hilarious... a big gash in the building. No one was hurt, but the plane was gounded. In defense of the Russians, Canadian ground handlers give an "unusual" motion in their "TURN LEFT" and "TURN RIGHT" and "STOP" commands (using their signal flashlights held in their hands... it was night.). When I taxied in behind the Russian, I saw the confusing signals too... and deplaned my scanner (an enlisted flight engineer) to go take the guy's flashlights and give me standard international signals to avoid confusion in a tight area. But it really was not the Canadian's fault... they aren't "driving".... sometimes I wondered if they told the Russian to taxi at full throttle into a terminal, nose first, if he would.... hehe... probably.

And then I'm back where I love to live, doing the sport I love to do, and working with stuff I love to work with! It can't get much better. What do you guys think??
Joking aside, if you are happy , then it is the best spot in the world! :goodjob:

But those guys in the figure skating competitions skating around in those tights and flipping around like fairies just makes me laugh.

But if you really love it, you shouldnt have any problem with my opinion, my opinion sure shouldnt deter you:)

Sounds good to me. But ultimately you are the only one who can decide on that. If you are happy with it, by all means go ahead and do it. It's not like a one-way trip to nowhere. ;) You can always do something else if you feel unsatisfied. This is the reason why us civilised democratic prosperous people get the most out of life.

Come on, brave dedicated communist, step up to the plate and be up front about your economic and political convictions when you seek employment. :p
