In Civ3, the scenario/map size you are playing has a huge effect on the turn time. 1000 AD on a Tiny map will be instantaneous on a Pentium II, but on a very large, complicated scenario, it won't be instantaneous even on the most advanced processors. Your processor is more towards the advanced end.

Civ3 shouldn't crash on your computer, but neither should Flight Simulator 2004 (although Flight Simulator would surely benefit from a better graphics card). Your power supply looks suspect to me - 250W isn't much with a quad-core processor. It's possible there's something to Flight Simulator that is causing a crash, but if all intensive games crash, you may not have a powerful enough power supply. The best way to figure out if Civ3 will crash is to try it.

One other note about processors and Civ3 - there's no benefit to having many cores. Civ3 can only take advantage of one core. Your processor should deliver fast turn times in the high majority of scenarios, but it shouldn't be any better than the same AMD processor with two cores instead of four (or any worse than an equivalent with six cores). Other games, including the forthcoming Civ5, may benefit from multiple cores.

You shouldn't have too much problem with Civ3, maybe another program is interfering and causing you're crash.

thanks for your reply, I really appreaciate it, But Flight Simulator 2004 i run maxed out the only problem is it says FS9 is not responding..I don't understand why.

I play Civ3 Perfectly no errors i can play TCW & is Very Fast turns its amazing, Civ4 is good.. but No Like Civ3 =/ :D..
