OK heres the deal. I've finally got PTW, converted my previous map (1.29) to PTW (1.14) and started a game. All works fine, then i see my edited units have different animations etc. I tried replacing the units_32 file and they're still wrong. I tried adding the units on the map in the editor and they come up fine, then when i start the game they go all wrong again. This only happens to the units that i've modified, which were all the UU's that were available with Civ3.

So now instead of a Modern Destroyer sailing the high seas i've got a bloody impi running on water that can bombard three squares away.

BTW, the units that i changed are the ones that now appears EG. I replaced the Cossack with an advanced Tank, but the Cossack is appearing in the game instead of the Tank, but with the Tanks characteristics. This never happened with Civ3

Does anyone know what the hell is going on and how to fix it? It's really giving me the s--ts as I liked playing with these extra units, and wouldn't have played Civ3 for this long if i didn't have them.:(

Actually I had the same problem too. I tried making it a new .BIX scenario, copied the art files to the scenario/art/units folder, added the entry to pediaicon, copied the directory file in "scenario properties" but still it keeps on using the default animations.

I'm afraid that a modified civ3 bic is not compadible with PTW.

You must mod a new bix file in the PTW editor.

Tried that and it still doesn't work...... Could the problem be that i am importing the info from a modded civ3 bic? OR do i just have to re-enter all the info as NEW units rather than changing the old ones?

Either way tho, why does it continue to use the old animations etc, when i have changed all unit_32 files (including the originals) and renamed the unit?

It's strange as the rest of the game works fine, it's just the units that have the wrong image and animations......

You have to add the path to your unit folder in the PediaIcons.txt file. Towards the bottom of it, you will see some entries like this:

#ANIMNAME_PRTO_Settler
Settler

The first line corresponds to the area I've highlighted in the screenshot. The second line tells the game what folder to look in for the graphics, etc. If you change that line to another folder, you will get the art work for that unit instead.
