I'm playing the Conquests on Civ3 Complete. For some reason, when I finish one, a message box comes up right after I click the "X" on the Victory status screen, saying, "Civilization 3 Complete has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Please report this problem." When I restart the game and check the Hall of Fame, my game is there. Which victory screen comes after Victory Status, and why does my computer have such a problem with it?

EDIT:
I meant to say that my game is NOT in the Hall of fame.

There are some who had similar problems with the space race video, search the forums for a space race video crash, you might be able to use the same solution for your problem.

Well, I looked at the other threads and the most common replies ("Put NoSound=1 in your config file" and "Rename your movie files") did not work. I was wondering exactly what the screen after the Victory Status screen was so that I would have some idea what to look for going wrong.

I'm having the exact same problem, and would love to hear a solution to it.

Macezek or someone else - any idea what the problem is? How can we fix this?

Also, I'm having another similar error. After playing around with the editor, I tried to play what I made. But when I try to play it, I get a message that says:

Load Error
FILE NOT FOUND
"#"
The game will now exit

It seems I have a similar error...I finished the first conquest, mesopotamia, and got to the victory status screen and clicked the 'X' to move on and the game crashed with the generic error "Civ3Complete has stopped working." And there isn't any 'Space Race' option in Mesopotamia, either! I'm wondering what's going on...anyone know?

This thread has a solution at the bottom that might work for you guys, it seems like it might be the audio not the video that is giving the error.

Also sstravelwizard, this might be the same UAC issue some others are having, this thread has a solution, but look for the scenarios folder instead of the saves folder.

Unfortunately, neither method fixed the problem for me...any other possible solutions?

It does not work for me either! I hope that someone can help out here soon! This is a great pity! Civ 3 (Complete version) is a GREAT game but when this kinds of problems appear, it is just soooo unfortunate!!!

The only consolation is that I am NOT the only one facing this problem!

After browsing through loads of threads, I have found the answer to the 'Victory Status Screen Crash'!!!
All you have to do is go to:

C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Civilization III Complete\Conquests\CampaignRecord.hof

Go to properties, uncheck 'Read Only' then click 'Apply' and 'OK'
It'll fix this problem for all conquests :D

Excellent piece of work, mate!! I can confirm that this works! I can't believe that the programmers fail to notice this "minor" bug! The solution is soooo simple!!!! Thanks again!!! Really appreciative!!! Great job!
