The documentaries at the end are pretty neat. Considering that it's going to be out next month only heightens my anticipation more.

There's so much video in these stills, it looks more like a real-time game than anything. Trees waving in the wind, your 3D cursor making ripples in the water, all nice touches. The animals...meh, I still don't like them. They look very well animated, though.

A quick shot of you looking around and seeing Atrus walk in reveals that there might not be any "bubble distortion" like there was in Exile, the first one to use the 360 degree approach.

From the looks of things, this might be the first Myst game to actually appeal to everyone, not just the hardcore fans. Just check it out for yourself.

this coming from the guy who likes myst better than civ

considering the last 2 versions of myst have sold only 450,000 copies combined  it seems like it would be hard not to have it do better. and what do you mean hardcore? didn't people complain it moved at too slow a pace, and the puzzles were too hard?

Believe it or not, there is a strong following for this series. ;) In fact, people have made complaints like that. I myself don't care too much for puzzles and would rather see the story unfold.

In order to combat this, the Myst IV team has tried to make the puzzles this time around a little easier and a camera to take shots of clues. There is even an option to have a character read his journal for you.

Myst IV will probably still bomb anyway. The videogame industry seems to be becoming increasingly hostile and/or indifferent about games like this. The only way for Myst to keep afloat is to appeal to more people.

Why didn't I say this sooner...? Myst III actually sold 1.1 million copies. Uru indeed only sold half as much. :p
