I was recently glancing through the sound files for all three folders for Civ and listening to each one. I wanted to compile a sound effects CD for use in tabletop RPG and I thought that civ would have a few useful sounds and tunes.
I managed to listen to quite a few that I've never heard of before, such as 'Boo' and 'Rebellion'. If I have a city riot there are no particular sound effects, so I was wondering if this is just my PC or whether it's a general bug.
There are lots of these files that I've never heard of. I wonder whether I am missing lots of sounds that everyone else can hear and is enjoying.

Never heard of these? Where abouts are they found? Civ does still retain some unused stuff - most famously the unused animated medieval military advisor (in the same vanilla Civ3 folder containing the intro).
I doubt this is a bug - most likely Firaxis never coded it in but didn't bother removing the files.

They are in the 'sounds' for vanilla Civ3. There are also extra ones in the PTW and C3C sounds folders. Some of them sound quite good.
The sound file for rebellion is excellent and would make the 'city-in-flames' effect even better. Sadly it seems this is never used.
Have a look through some of the wav files and listen to some cool sounds that aren't used.

Boo is used. You just never got the crowds displeasure. It is only used in one Conquest under a very specific circumstance.

Just listened to that one myself. Sounds like the sound effect in SimCity 3000 (when you turn down a deal).

When you decide not to sacrifice a worker in the Mesoamerica Conquest.
