Okay so I wanna start a new civII game but I'm really bored with the monotony of always being one of the pre-chosen civs (american, zulu, mongol, etc) but i'm not original to think up a civilization and ruler and city names on my own. anybody have any suggestions for my civ? it'd be cool if it was an empire that was once glorious but is not included on the game

You also have the possibility the copy the "city.txt" file from a scenario folder (if you have special scenarios with modified city names) and paste it to the civ2 folder (don't forget to backup the original one).

Well, in the rules.txt you have the civilizations Arabs and Inca as extra civs. I created Sweden as a civ (we were actually doing quite well in the 1600's and 1700's:) ) with Gustav Vasa and Kristina as rulers. No South Pacific civilization is included, maybe the polynese or aborigines.

You can edit RULES.TXT to change an existing Civ. Suggestions? Well, if you are in an evil mood there's Iraq, the Taliban, or Al-Qaeda; or try United Federation of Planets, the Iroqois Nations, or perhaps NBA teams? If you want obscure there were the Hittites, the Gauls (ever read "Asterix and Oberlix" comics?), the Philistines, the Mayans, or maybe the Neaderthals. Take your pick.

BTW, Welcome to CFC!

I assume that's a hard coded limit, maybe there's a no-limits patch (which I've only heard about here) that would allow more characters though.:)

I replaced one of the civs with "Golfers" (adj. "Honourable") and gathered up 50 or so famous golf course names for the cities. It has greatly improved the CivII experience. You want my files?

I'm assuming you have to replace something already there rather than adding whole new civs. True?
