More enigmas for me. Let's see... How many famous English scientists do I know?

Hawking. Crick (english?). Watson (e?). The Darwins. That's it.

Murderers? No idea...

The Scientist has a wonder named after him in Civ. Strickly speaking he was born near Grantham and only went to school here, where he didn't do that well :)

So it is old Isaac... Was the apple tree in Grantham? :)

It seems like I have to touch up my geography skills a bit. Until yesterday, I thought major cities in England were London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool. But Grantham seems to be the metropolis... I'll look it up in my atlas when I'm home.

MMORPG - I know that the Civ3 demo game has one (and am a bit doubtful as to how practical that will be and how much fun). Are there many others around? Is that the category for Ultima Online, Everquest, Anarchy Online...?

:egypt:

Ultima Online, Everquest, Anarchy Online - Yep I'm pretty sure they are all MMORPGs. Look for Grantham to the East of Nottingham and 100 miles (Not exact) north of London. The Apple tree was probably near Grantham but I'm not sure where.

Have you ever played one of those? They cost money, that's a big no for me, and they involve lotsa time. Then again, I've heard of people selling magical items from these games at ebay for wads of money (into the thousands of pounds/ euros/ dollars; and yes, I'm talking about "virtual equipment").

My atlas doesn't include Grantham. How big is it, seriously :-) ?

Correct me if I'm wrong Dell, but Grantham isn't one of the big cities. I think the nearest is probably Lincoln. Its on the A1 road.

I doubt my town of Warwick is in your atlas either.

Seriously its about the size of 35 000 people + houses and supermarkets. Grantham is now bypassed by the A1 but its nearer to Nottingham than Lincoln.

As deputy mod here I don't want to be a meanie but this thread is veering a little bit off topic. In order to address the problem I am going to take it all the way off topic by giving you this link to Grantham on line at which you can learn almost everything you might want to know about Grantham (including where it is!). Enjoy! :goodjob:

alright, duke. i thought this was the

"all hail grantham, ye marvelous city of great minds. we will honor you by naming a core city of our soon-to-be-spanning-the-known-planet-empire after you"-thread :)

thanks for the link. i'll check it out!

a question: do mods do MUDs?

The thread has basically run its perpose though so it doesn't really matter that much that it went off topic.
