Naming

Civ: Vatican City

Cities:
The Big Cathedral
The Smaller One
The Big Plaza
That one building with all them nuns
That monstrous wall that keeps out the barbarians
The Swiss Guard barracks
The ATM machine in Latin

Re-name Civ: Siam (as in Thailand)
Leader title: The Mighty ...
Leader Name: Aiko (My Siamese cats name)
City Names: After:
(1) Stars, Constellations, Planets, Science Fiction themes (can include made-up science stuff, like "Quantum Drift", etc.)
(2) I name citys strictly in alabetical ordrer, eg, Aldebarin, Betelguise, Canopus, Deneb, etc. Cycled A-Z then repeat with a diffenent A type, B type, etc. I can rougly tell a cities location by its name/letter type. Some letters can be pretty tough!

Leaders: All are great Science Fiction writers: Asimov, Heinlein, Niven, etc.

Lots of fun, LOL!

I usually KEEP the original Civ's name of a city conquest (thats not razed of course). Sorta nostlagic thing a 1000 years later, heritage, you know? Sometimes, though, I will change the name, depending on mood, and then it ALWAYS gets a "New ..." in front of a name already used, like New Debeb, etc. I save "Novy" or "Nova" for science fiction-ly names, like "Nova Solaris", when I am stumped for a name for an obsqure letter (like Q or Z).

My last game had a Wheel of Time theme.

Leader: Artur Paendrag
Cities:

Tar Valon
Caemlyn
Illian (Coastal)
Tear (Coastal)
Tanchico
etc.
