I haven't seen a strategy thread for the Napoleonic scenario for Conquests yet. I don't actually have a strategy; rather some questions.

Because of war weariness does anybody revolt to monarchy? I had serious ass war weariness problems despite playing on chieftain or warlord, I can't remember. Seems like a waste of 6 turns though. Cities revolting is more annoying than crippling.

What about diplomacy? On the first turn as France I got Prussia, Austria and Spain to pay me all their money for the privilege of warring against Britain. My foolish brothers, tanks cost money but war is free! And I thought everybody hated the French.

Things went swimmingly for a while till they all made separate peace with The Enemy and ganged up against me - which they should have done on the first turn. But I can't blame the ai for that, it's just a dumb bunch of 1s and 0s. Technology was much easier when it was just a little man inside the tv. Anyway, should I have bought the bastards off to stay on good terms? And I don't mean bastards in the profane sense. Did not Edmund ask in Macbeth "Why bastard wherefore base?"

What about strategies for invading British? I got lucky with the British navy for a while. Get your mind of the gutter! I meant that my conscript frigates sank some of their men-o-war, sans any no-questions-asked anonymous high-seas copulation. But their navy is nothing if not numerous.

Any advice or comments would be appreciated.

One key word for this scenario: Mobilization.

Start from the very first turn until the end of the game.

Mind you, careful with the War Academy, you cannot build it under mobilization. What I did was to use one of the two leaders to rush it in turn one.

Then that same turn I built an army of imperial cavalry and went on conquest. I mobilized that same first turn. During thr first turn also sign agreements with everyone against Great Britain. Trade luxuries. You have extra luxs in your land which need roads to hook them up (furs IIRC). Do it asap.

And of course: Welcome SHOGANAI to CFC :band: [party] !!!

(from what part of Japan are you?)

Here's your thread to the strats in this scenario:

personally i have revolted and not revolted, not revolting is more fun

what i do is...

create quite a few workers straight from the off
use one leader for an army and the other for a Forbidden Palace (or War Academy)
bombard and attack the northern most Kingdom of Naples city hopefully getting a golden age straight off with the Voltigeur, this will help happiness
trade for luxuries turn 1 or 2, up lux to 20/30%, though watch it
turn 2, once the FP is finished, Mobilize, remobilize everytime a civ is eliminated or peace is taken
there is an unconnected luxury in the north of france, don't trade for that one, but connect it asap, there is another one just north of the Ottomans, send a worker and a good defender and create a colony

eliminate Amsterdam and the Kingdom of Naples as quickly as possible (but take care over unit loss due to ww) and get Spanish help in eliminating the Portuguese, once these 3 nations have gone ww from them is eliminated, leaves just ww from the english, i would then go for them

due to a OCN bug in Conquests, I personally prefer to load in a tiny map before I play it, more corruption but faster / cheaper techs in the Conquest though this is just a personal preference, loading a huge map would give slower more expensive tech

3 of the techs are more or less useless, can't remember them but tech towards Artillery grabbing code civil on the way

i wouldn't worry about reputation, it will be shot to pieces by your allies very quickly

I actually prefer playing the English, every unit is sacred, I think France produces quicker, but I feel like giving this another go now :)

What about diplomacy? On the first turn as France I got Prussia, Austria and Spain to pay me all their money for the privilege of warring against Britain. My foolish brothers, tanks cost money but war is free! And I thought everybody hated the French.

that is a first turn diplomacy bug, i normally just trade for luxes on the first turn

You've probably never heard of the town (Fujieda), although was surprised to see that it was on the list of Tokugawa's town names. The town is one square south of Imagawa's start point, where the wheat is.

Thanks Shoganai fro the info. Also, I forgot to write that Mobilization and Golden Age are cumulative so you can really churn out units fast.

When i played i was Prussia, i focused on denmark first, and by the time i killed them off the french had everyone against them, i swept in and took over france, italy and most of spain with Crussaire SODs before time ran out.
