You’re not safe yet... Not from my friends in the business… Muahawhawhaw!!! :mwaha:

Whenever you ask a company to add you to their do not solicit list, they tell you it might take a few months. That's a fact of life.

You're right about the political parties and charities, but that's small potatoes compared to telemarketers. If I can block 90% of unwanted calls by adding my number to a list, then deal with the others manually as they call me, then I give it a

I don't know if I'd want to be on such a list. When I moved out of my parents house and got my first appartment and phone line - I felt like I had finally "arrived" when the first telemarketer called ME. I was a somebody! :)

It would be funny if the government SOLD the do not call list to the telemarketers. It would be the holy grail of telemarketing - kind of like the "rings" from Charlie's Angels 2.

:)

Spam on the phone lines. Boo. Hiss.

It is about time this was available. It is one of the few times my libertarian friend agrees with anything resembling a national system.

PS Phones dont call people. Telemarketers call people.

I saw on the news that the 1-800 number got over 100 calls a minute the first day it was on line.

I've signed up- have you?

Just signed up our phone number. :goodjob:

Does it work with ex-girlfriends? :p

BTW: Telemarketers? Does that include Gallup and the like?

I think I remember hearing that surveys are not considered telemarketers.

I wish we had such a thing in Israel. Or in hotmail for that matter.

I registered online.

It was crazy. Several hours after registerting I finally got the activation email; I thought I would get it immediately. Then I figured that it must have been all the load.

I registered, and activated it. Found out it won't be active for another 5 years.

Nope, that's how long your registration will last. Do Not Call goes into effect this October.

How do we know that this isn't all some extravagant scam to get a whole bunch of phone numbers, in preperation for a huge telemarketer lollapalooza? ;)

You would have heard of Martha Stewart by now.

Indiana already has one of these does that mean we have to register again? does anyone know. I think it's a great idea, but now i'll probably get more spam from the companies that used to call and now have switch to the internet world

the funny part is that the tela-marketers got the LIST from the govt.!!! the dmv sells their info to tela-marketers for $$$$ thats why your local govt always talked about doing something but never did, it would of cost them millions. so the feds got it done:D
