there should be a benefit to up keeping huge portions of uninhabited forrests, or jungles.

-a country should have a benefit of having a national park
-good for tourism
-1 gold per turn per connected forrest square
-national park must contain something like 10-plus connected forrest/jungle squares which are uninhabited and protected.

this way the country side is keep nice and natural.

why just forests and jungles? The biggest national park in the world is in Greenland (which is all snow and ice, as far as the eye can see!!). It is a nice idea though - hopefully they will add a whole environmental element in for civ4 with things like this and hopefully a lot more resources and luxuries and stuff. Id also like to see troops lose health points for traversing across vast distances without rest and dangerous or extreme land (deserts, tundra and jungles).

Heres an idea, have a building that goes in your city that needs to have at least on square of forest or marsh or jungle in the cities boundries. it reduces the polution of the city by the amount of squares of resurve. You maually designate the areas to be protected by building a little park improvement on the tile. thie way only roads can go through it and the population cant work it.
