I've never seen plague or climate change in my civ iiimastertyguy said:Volcanoes, Plague and climatic changes are already there
IMHO, most of them are too small scale. Only volcano (losing city is, IMHO, important), plague (if as big as in RL), and climatic change (if like in RL, again) can be important enough.

I think volcanoes should be given names according to the Civilization that discovers it (through exploration). For example, if a Japanese unit explores and finds a volcano, that volcano would be given Mt. Fuji as its name...
That would be pretty cool. The first one to discover certain places could put a sign up or something that said "Joe Mountain" or "WindyAss Pass", and what not.Pacifist said:In Sim City games, some people actually enjoy destroying their creations with natural disasters more than they do making beautiful cities.

Not to mention that natural disasters have its place in human history. Their destructive force have caused us to suffer but have also made us strong. From the creation of stronger structures to uniting us all.
If "more" natural disasters should ever make it to any Civ games, the frequency of disastrous events should be regulated, enough for them to make an impact in our Civ-games but should also be manageable.
Just an after-thought ...
Just for fun, I think volcanoes should be given names according to the Civilization that discovers it (through exploration). For example, if a Japanese unit explores and finds a volcano, that volcano would be given Mt. Fuji as its name. Of course, this would just be an extra that does not give any effects in-game, just treated the same way like the palace upgrades we have seen in previous Civ-games. I've always enjoyed the palace upgrades

Well then how about having actual tectonic plates and the ground can move around a bit. Then you can research geology and try to predict earthquakes and prepare your cities that are on fault linesThe End Is Nigh said:Earthquakes should definitely be in. And I agree with Aks K. They should not happen randomly, but happen on specific locations in a given map. Like Volcanoes, which are already located on a given map (in the case of earthquakes, they should be hidden in certain tiles).
