NCSG1-Suryavarman II!

Nice turnset silver.
Good call on settling bronze by everyone. My only (very minor) complaint is choosing meditation over polytheism. Since we're aiming for oracle and possibly GL, polytheism unlocks priesthood AND literature (with aesthetics, obviously). I suppose meditation has the advantage of being cheaper though.
Otherwise, excellent work, we seem to have a solid position.

Yer after the 2 settler maybe we need to at least 2 more workers? Hari can consentrate on millitary builds.

Great job S., and everyone for the help, will update everything. Hope Rex rgis is around.

Oh, well, I didn't mean to pressure you, take your time, I was just hoping you didn't quit. It's good to know you're here.

Yes, probably more :smoke: on my part. I clearly didn't read far enough back to see that we were shooting for the GL too. I looked at the techs and said "Meditation is cheaper and it enables monasteries! Poly only gives us ability to build the Parthenon, which we won't do."

But now that I think of it, we clearly won't be building many monasteries very soon, because we have no religion! :smoke:

It's no big deal. The rest of your play was excellent ;)

Lol, if that's a mistake, then just wait until I accidently declare war.

Alright cool. School always comes first.

It's cool, good luck Grandad.

Cool. So what am I doing here? Get copper city ready to pump axes. Settle the sugar site and work towards the Oracle?

Might try to get a worker in too. If it seems appropriate is it ok to switch to slavery?

Oh yer got it. I'll prbably play on saturady afternoon - GMT - so chime in with some ideas etc.

@ Bleys
Not long now!!

Yeah, I say get the copper hooked up, a stack of 4-5 axes, check in here, then steamroll him. That's what I mean for the next few rounds, I dunno what we'll get done in 20. Also, you've got a good idea with the third city and the Oracle.

Well heres my report.

Tech: Med> Archery> Agr> Priest (started - one turn in)

81. Settler out of Yaso starts on a warrior.

82. Instead of waiting for the warrior escort I send the settler out in to the fog busted area.
SGSury.jpg

83. Worker starts on a road to Hari

84. Warrior finished in Yaso, start a granary. Warrior goes out to fog bust.

85. Meditation is in, start on archery - stuff warriors!

89. Promote warrior to C1 and found Angkor Thom [Thom]. Start a granary at Thom. Granary finished in Yaso, starts worker.

90. Archey> Agriculture. Worker ready in Hari. I send him to the bronze. Mistake should be the pig. I lose a turn and send him to the pig.

92. Start to pasture the pigs at Hari.
SGSury5.jpg

94. Suliman gets this nice event. Ori's random events list says this gives Shock to all axes.
SGSury6.jpg

95. Worker out at Yaso, start on our first non Warrior millitary unit! Worker goes to grassland to get ready to farm afer Agr - should have started a cottage some where.
SGSury7.jpg

98. Worker starts farm. Also as our scout heads west, we check out Willems land. From what I can see 1NW of the cow would have been better.
SGSury8.jpg

99. Archer finished, Yaso starts Archer. Archer goes to fog bust banana/rice/dye. Agr finished start on Priest.

Some city shots on my penultimate turn.

Glance. Notice that Ragnar and Caeser aren't getting along?

Demo screen. Ok. Need to up our GNP, so maybe some cottages next round?

Ok after Priest I think wee need IW, Writing (to have the option of CoL from the Oracle), and maybe sailing? Techs from Oracle should either be CoL or MC IMO. Yaso can probably be micro manged to grow the same turn it produces the archer. Also soon Slavery might become useful.

What do you reckon?

Well played Grandad, :)

I think as soon as we get copper we have to focus on getting some axes up, but is it starting to get a little late to pull off a rush?

Do you think we can nab the oracle and still build enough axes to take out willem?

I'm gald julius and ragnar arn't getting along lets hope it stays that way!

Great job, grandad. And good call on the pigs. I would have just seen copper, but now Hari should grow extremely fast. Yeah tech priorities should definitely be to make sure writing comes in BEFORE the Oracle, so we can get CoL. Our worker in Hari, should get the copper hooked up, and Hari should crank out the axes. Willem looks too tempting. And it's perfect if our rush finishes just as the Oracle does so we get courthouses fast.

@Groo

Never to late to own! Lol, but honestly, if he doesn't have copper, he'll have archers for a while, and CR axes take them out easy.

Nice set grandad. I'm glad we got both of the target cities settled, we're in good shape.
With those pigs hooked up by hari, it's time to revolt to slavery IMO, we can whip out an axe army pretty quickly now once we hook up metal.

I got it.

So the plan is tech Writing, and build some Axes. No problem! I dont think its too late to rush Willy, but we will need a good number of units.

Not to sound like a wet blanket here, but I'd like to play Devil's Advocate.

1. Not enough Workers. Lots of lands need developement. Definitely, settling way over into the Sugar and such isn't going to be good for a rush. Gotta get IW for Jungle clearing, lots of Workers, and Calendar.

2. I see potential for at least 4 other city sites, provided Yaso+one other city is cottaged enough to support them. Counting Calendar resources, you have Incense, Sugar, Dye, Silk, and Silver for 5 additional happy faces Civ wide, cheap Granaries to help your cities grow nice and fat. Mild REXing to grab the happies + massive Vertical growth is a real option here. Then use Willem to build Wonders to grab later and as early tech/trade route partner.
