Hey guys, the reason im posting this thread is because I need a civ that I main or to master it. Eventually playing that civ in Multiplayer. I'm a fairly decent player. I play on king difficulty mostly. Most civs I try just don't cut out for me. Idk why. I need a good civ thats good with conquering continents at a time. Any suggestions?

In no particular order:

Persia--the Satrap's Court is wonderful for happiness, and puppets build it quickly.
China--the Paper Maker is amazing for gold, the Chu-Ko-Nu tears through units and armies, and Art of War makes them insane.
Huns--early domination is easy as them.
Mongolia--Keshiks are amazing and Khans are almost as good.
Arabia--extra gold, luxes, and Camel Archers.
Maya--extra faith and science means an early lead.
Inca--half price roads and faster unit speed.
England--Longbowman are downright broken, and SoTLs combined with Sun Never Sets are hilarious.
Theodora--grab Just War, and go to town on civs you spread your religion to.

Thanks alot. I'll try a Earth game with Arabia.

Rome is cool too. They've got two early UU, an improved swordsman and catapult, and their ability is nice for getting build stuff in your conquered cities quickly.

Yeah, it is. I was just talking about civs that have staying power, which they all have in a superior fashion compared to Rome.

Denmark or even Polynesia if you need to fight on other continents.

Denmark makes amphibious assualts so much easier.

As Polynesia, grab a couple of cities on each continent. Make sure they are well defended until you're ready and you don't even need an amphibious assualt. Just make sure they are well defended or you'll lose them.

there is no mastering a civ
just mastering the game

IF (when) you understand game concepts u do well with every civ, but when u still wonder whichs civs are good you are miles away from that and should start on trying to understand game concepts
Yeah, it is. I was just talking about civs that have staying power, which they all have in a superior fashion compared to Rome.

can some1 pls but a facepalm pic there?

This. The differences between civs aren't so substantial to affect your game style in a significant manner.

Most civs perks are negligible, most UU are pointless since they are melee or cavalry and your ranged will do most of the job anyway.

I'd dare to say that map conditions such a particularly good resources or natural wonders at your starting area will affect how good you will perform more than the civ unique abilities.

This right here is a great choice. The Chu-Ko-Nu is insane. Firing twice per turn is pretty awesome, and that carries over when you upgrade them to Gatling Guns.

yeah I have to agree w/ the Arabia choice. it allows you to decimate early game and take a capital, then if you are a powerhouse and can make it to oil, it can be game over with those extra battleships and planes.

Why? Here's my analysis:

Persia--a boost to happiness and a bonus for having more happiness, including a combat bonus at any stage of the game.
China--A UU that retains its bonus of doing insane damage and gaining promotion more quickly. A UB that is pertinent to any stage, because gold is good.
Huns--Yeah, you're right.
Mongolia--I prefer Khans and Keshiks to Ballistae (lol) and Legions.
Arabia--Gold is more versatile and Camel Archers are amazing.
Maya--We get double faith and more science for doing absolutely nothing lol. Also, The Long Count is beastly for domination.
Inca--Gold is more versatile, and the Inca have lots of it thanks to reduced road costs.
England--My 10 movement Destroyers and 9 movement Battleships would like a word.
Theodora--A combat bonus means less production is needed for units.

Rome--a horrid UU and a mediocre one that relies on luck to even see the light of day, both of which would never be used regardless, because of Comps. The UA is the only reason they're any good, and it's good, but not as good as other UAs such as Arabian, the Mayan, the Incan, the Chinese, the Persian, the Byzantine (on 6 or lower), etc. They're a middling civ at best.
