I just bought 18 Wheels of Steel: Pedal to the Metal and it didn't work at all. I Emailed the company and said my video card whice is RAGE FURY Pro/Xpert 2000 Pro was out a date...WAY out of date....

So what kind should I get...Games are just going to get more 3D...(like Age of Empires III :D )

Thanks!

The big question is your budget. Without knowing that, I would say mid end, maybe a ATI X700 Pro? newegg.com has them $198 right now

The problem with X700s is that they are PCI-E only.

@truckingpete, please post your system specs and approximate budget. There is no point suggesting a GF 6800GT if you only have a 1GHz CPU. :crazyeye:

Good point, that slipped my mind.

Here are my specs:

OS: Windows 98 SE
Processor: Intel P4
Speed: 1.8 GHz
RAM: 256 MB

I thinking about to spend about $70 - $150.....If I need to spend more I will...

There is an ATI something at Wal-Mart for $82...might get that looks pretty good...

Thanks!

It all depends on your ultimate game, and how much $ you want to spend.
I'm considering an nVidia 6600GT AGP card. It's $219 at Tiger Direct right now, and ought to get down to $199 once production gets going. If I were to get an ATI card, I'd go for a 9600. The 9800 is now outperformed by the nVidia GF6 series. The card I'm running now is a GF4 Ti4200, and it works real well with HL2 and Doom3. I've seen it for $99-115, which is too expensive in view of the 6600GT at $200.
The demand for PCI express video has not met expectations and the manufacturers are backing water to get the AGP crowd the upscale cards we want.

It also depends on if your going to upgrade to the PCI-E type MB. As much of an improvement as PCI-E is, I'm inclined to sit out for awhile and see what's going to become available.

I would recommend a 9600pro, but I need to know what speed your AGP port runs at first.

What motherboard do you have?

Um, probaly a really bad idea. Wal mart knows squat about computers. Probaly what they have is an outdated peice of Junk. newegg has the cheapest prices plus quailty parts.;)

The best two cards that will give you the greatest bang for the buck right now are:
nVidia 6600 GT
ATI 9800 Pro

You can buy both for good prices on Newegg.com. The 6600 beats the 9800 in just about all benchmarks (considering it's a newer card built on newer technology) but the 9800 is still a great card.

Do not buy an ATI card that has an 'SE' designation.

There is no point in upgrading your video card if you're just going to get a 9200.

What is your price limit?

 :crazyeye: :smoke:

These prices you list are ridiculous. Try newegg.com

To find out what mobo you have, download THIS tool. Look under the mainboard tab and tell us what is listed in the section called Graphic Interface (or better still, attach a screenie of it).
