well symantec is the devil first of all;)

Second your diag show you are running about of 100mb of services in the backround that are not ms related. In order to get a clean shot at running the game you do not want anything to get in the way of trouble shooting.

besides norton can linger in the registry after uninstall.

Like I said before norton is the devil:)

What does this have to do with clicking on units who knows but we are going to find out.

well let me know what happens after the msconfig thing.

If that doesnt work, we will have to go to plan B.

So maker ready the shot glasses.

when I try to run msconfig I get an error message... I think it's because I run MS 2000 isn't it? Says, cannot find msconfig or one of it's components.

no cds are workin or civ iv cds are not working?

do you have burner software?

start/run

type in: msconfig

on the general tab use the normal startup switch apply and reboot.

go into device manager and verify that the cd drives are enabled

control panel/system icon/hardware/device manager.

then hit the plus nect to cds highlight and right click for properties.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but it appears they're enabled. Under DVD/CD-Rom drives it shows both ARTEC WRR-52Z and IDE DVD-ROM 16X with a yellow exclamation mark next to them.

Ok it says, this device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.

That means they are fubar.

Crap. That is bizarre.

CHeck and see if system restore is in you computer.

programs/accessories/system tools/system restore.

If so find a restore point before you installed msconfig and restore to that date.
