Need help making a 18 civ map to hold 34Civs

Crap! I had it for a while then I messed up and lost it all. I started the earth 18 civ scenario then went through and deleted all of the starting units and saved. Then I went through the process and then everything was actually working and I was able to get 34 civs on the map. But I noticed that when i saved I had fixed the leaders and I wanted different leaders. So I started over and now I can't get back to where i was before. This is driving me mad!

When I go through and delete the cities and units and then save, for some reason it doesn't save it now. I don't know why. It worked for me once before and It won't now.

This seems to me as a clear-cut case of start over from the beginning. It'll save you time.

For the record, the standard Earth map won't hold all 34 civs in their historically accurate starting locations...

I think i know the problem. When I go through and delete and the existing units and cities, it doesn't seem to erase them completely. Even though I save after everything has been deleted. When I load the scenario they All come back anyway.

Okay, here's another tip: don't use Worldbuilder. A map saved with Worldbuilder will be neither a saved game nor a fresh-and-still-shrink-wrapped scenario, but rather, a sort of bastard creation that really shouldn't exist. If you want to create a genuine "Earth18civs, except with more civs" sort of map in which no players have made any decisions or started to do anything, then you need to crack open Earth18civs (or similar) in Notepad and add the civs one at a time via keyboard. The attached file only has 28 civs, but should provide a good starting point.

The strange thing was that I was able to do it once before using the world builder and I can't remember how i did it. I also already have a dll thingy that allows up to 50 civs. Something that always confused me however is where do I save the new map that I just typed when I use Notepad. Am I supposed to save in a certain file? And how do I replace the previous file file with the new one that I just typed? When I have replaced the entries for the preset civs with empty ones and then put in all the rest of the entries up to fifty it wont allow me to change any of the civs or add any more.

Could someone make a Earth 18 civ scenario map have at least 34 civs in it? I've been at this damn thing for hours and figure out what the hell Im doing wrong. I had it once and get it back:mad:. It only took me a few minutes when I did do it though. Even better if someone could make this map have it. If I ever get this done any one here is welcome to it. Please help!

Dude, I'm telling you, there is NO WAY to do what you're asking without seriously screwing up a lot of starting positions. Sure, I could try to put the Holy Roman Empire at the Regensburg area, move the Celts to Ireland, start the Turks out at Sogut instead of Istanbul... but is there enough room for both the Sumerians and Babylonians? Where would I put the Portugese and Dutch?

Meh, screw it. I'll just write up the map and let you dick around with the starting locations. Give me a few minutes, though; I'm cooking pasta right now.

EDIT: Okay, done. Like I warned you, you won't be able to build the Sumerian, Holy Roman, Portugese, or Dutch capitals in their correct locations because THE MAP IS TOO DAMN SMALL. Also, I added a Barbarian-controlled Jerusalem. Have fun.

I dont care about the starting positions for now. When I did it they all were randomized at the start which is ok, because I'll put them where I want them. But to answer your question, I will have to put a few nations out of place. I was going to put Portugal in brazil because there is absolutely no way they will fit with Spain. The ottomans I was going to put above Persia. The Dutch I was going to put right above Germany in scandanavia. Sumeria is goin to be where there supposed to. I'll look at the map though. I'm writing this from my iPod so I'll have to get to my computer llater but as long as it has all 34 civs I'm perfectly happy. Every one except for the few I mentioned above will be in their general areas so it'll be pretty close for the most part. I'll show you when I'm done.

Ok. I made l my adjustments and here it is. There are a few nations who had to be out of place but for the most part everyone is in their general real world locations. Portugal and Ottomans are the most out of place. The dutch, Maya, Holy roman, and Carthage also had to be moved a little, but not very much. There should be an equal chance for just about every one if you play it right. Let me know what you guys think about it.
