I need someone to tell me how to get my mod that I made using modbuddy to my Civ 5 game. I know it is not the refreshing problem. Every time i hit build it says it builds but when I check the mods it doesn't appear. I need to make sure that I am using the right Civ 5 path also. I am new at this so please explain simply.

First of all, this is the wrong forum. Questions go in the main C&C forum, NOT the Tutorials forum. I'll notify the moderators to move it.

Second, you need to make sure ModBuddy is putting files into the right path. Go into the preferences for ModBuddy and be sure that the place it's pointing to is wherever your main Civ5 directory is. In Windows 7, for instance, it should point to My Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization V/; inside there will be a MODS directory containing all of your mods. Other operating systems will have a similar arrangement, just with slightly different directory names. If it isn't pointing to there but you can find where it put your files, you CAN always just move them by hand while you figure out how to fix it.
Now, there ARE a couple variables you set when installing the SDK that go into the registry, for which you'd generally need to use regedit to fix mistakes. This is obviously not something to do if you're not familiar with the registry, but at the worst you can always just re-install the SDK from scratch.

Third, there IS a refresh bug. If your mod was appearing on the mod list before and isn't now, try exiting the game entirely and restarting it. If your mod was never on the list to begin with then obviously this isn't the problem.

Beyond that, it should put your mod on the list automatically.

Well I am using steam and in the game directory there is no Mods Directory. That I can see. Would it be under assests because that is what the tutorial says but I cannot find it

That's the wrong place.

The Steam/steamapps/civ 5 directory is where the game's base assets are placed, but on your machine will be a DIFFERENT directory where savegames, mods, etc. are stored. It'll be under your My Documents (or Documents & Settings for XP folks) directory, with the path I gave in my previous post. This will be near where the ModBuddy files are stored, but the two aren't directly linked.

Well does the Civ 5 automaticly search that file for mods or do I need to tell it to use that file, or did I misunderstand what you said. sorry

Under normal circumstances, if you installed the SDK correctly, then the game will automatically look in that directory to see what mods you've added. You wouldn't need to do anything. The problem is, if you set up the SDK incorrectly, then it'd place your mod's files somewhere else, somewhere the game CAN'T look for them. That's what we're trying to figure out.

Go into ModBuddy. Go to "Tools", then "Options". We want to know three directories.

Under the "Projects and Solutions" tab, click on "General". In the first field, Projects Location, should be the path to your ModBuddy-saved files (NOT the built files). This will be something like
C:\Users\(your name)\Documents\Firaxis ModBuddy
You can check to make sure that this path is correct, but really, it's hard to get "wrong", because the only thing that looks for those files is ModBuddy. By definition it must be right. But it's still useful to know where this is.

The last two directories to check are both under the "Civilization 5" tab within that same Options window. Click on that.
The first path listed on the right will be the asset path, the Program Files directory that you already know about. Nothing new there.
The second path listed on the right, the "User Path", is the one we really want. It'll say something like
C:\Users\(your name)\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS
(While the option to set this value might be greyed out, the path WILL be the default, and that's what we want to know.)

Now, go make sure that directory exists. It's where ModBuddy will place compiled files. See if the files for your mod are there; if they aren't, then we've got bigger problems.
The problem would come if this path isn't similar to what I typed above, to where it's not in the place that Civ5 is expecting to find the files. If that's true, you have two options:
1> Go into ModBuddy and change that path to be Civ5's directory
OR
2> Use regedit to edit your registry. There's a variable in there that sets where Civ5 expects to find its configuration files. You can change that if needed. (I had to at one point, but I don't remember the variable offhand. Shouldn't be hard to find.)

Editing the registry is the better long-term solution, but it's dangerous.
