Okay thanks any how so I guess I will buy this one then....well in fact next month I get a new paycheck so I will by the AMD dual processor then with this mother board....

I wonder if it will fit into a Gateway 310SE :P lol cuz thats the kind of computer I am running right now.

Okay after searching for a while....I dunno I am in the question stage as whether to do this or to keep my computer and just uprgade the damn celeron processor with something better?

As you may know by now I aint exactly a computer wiz and I know only a little bit....so when you speak please leave it in dumbass terms so I can understand

STOP RIGHT THERE! ;)

I just noticed you don't have a burner on your system.

None of the data on your hard drive has been backed up onto DVD, right?

First thing I'd buy would be a DVD burner and a stack of blanks. Preferably with Nero 6 or similar burning software (there are free ones out there that do the job).

Just hoping it's going to survive on the hard drive forever is very optimisitc.

EDIT: Free burner software here - it's personal use only but it willl let you copy your data.

Yah don''t need to back up WIndows. Just your data, downloads etc.

How you organise them is up to you.

Do make sure you computer can read the backups before you delete anything from your hard drive.

I bet you've got an awful lot of stuff on it you don't need.

CDs can't read DVDs, but DVD drives can read CDs.

If the memory is compatible, all you would need to get is a mobo, CPU and PSU, everything else is reusable. If you buy less stuff this time, you could spend more time looking for something good. Ah well that's the way I prefer it.

I'd follow Cruddylepers advice and get a socket 939 AMD64 PCI-E mobo and a AMD64 with Venice core (actually I bought just that a few days ago :D ). You'll probably get heatsink + fan with the CPU, at least here I haven't seen any AMD64 CPUs without it.

Thank you guys so much for all the help I really appreciate it...cuz I know not to go to the damn computer stores where you take your computer to get fixed for a GAWD AWFUL amount of money...

But I think I am going to buy the Quad Core from AMD when I graduate from highschool...And I will make my PC then.

But right now I just got the idea that I want to build my own PC...but that can wait cuz this one is just for simple games like Civ, Command and Conquer, B-17, and other games that are around that area...

OH I am so sorry Cruddy....my video card is an ATI Radeon Pro 9250...It can take Direct X 9c no problem cuz thats what the CD came with and its what the tech support told me...
