[C3C] Need Help with Mod, Please!!

I hope I'm posting this in the right location. If I'm not, I apologize.

I am attempting to create my own (quite large) mod and I need some help with certain aspects of it. I got all of 'missing link' messages taken care of, but now it's freezing up when I build my first city.

If anyone is willing to help, I will certainly add your name in the credits.

I was also planning on posting the mod here for everyone to play and comment on.

David the Red, detecting the reasons of freezing can be a very time-consuming operation.

One reason for freezes when founding cities in the early stages of the game, that was reported for my mods CCM and RARR was the wrong labels text file, when Civ 3 complete was played with the Steam version. If you play the Steam version, you should try to change the bugged labels text file to a normal one.

Another reason could be, that your mod is missing some graphics (p.e. the luxury small graphics or city graphics) or that there is no unit with a defense and attack value buildable in your newly founded city. Another reason for reported freezes when founding a new city in my mods was a blanc line in the city names list of a civ. This was really nasty, but normally it shouldn´t happen, that you start the city list of a civ with a blanc line and in that case this error could be detected easily.
 
It doesn't get that far. All game progress has stopped as of this screenshot.

When looking at your screenshot, it seems you use the Steam version of Civ 3 Complete. As you also know RARR, you should try to replace the Steam labels text file in the text folder with the labels-Steam CivComplete Patch I have attached to the RARR text folder and rename that file to labels.
 
Does the unit warrior (stone) in your screenshot needs the resource stone and is the only unit that can been built in that city and the city has no access to that resource ? In that case you could try what happens if that unit doesn´t need any strat./lux. resource for building it.
 
No, it does not require stone to build and there should be at least one other unit it can build.

I downloaded your CCM2 mod and was playing it for a bit. Quite a nice look, thank you.

Using your new Epic game mode, I tried my mod again and it is still locking up. I then renamed the 'Cities' and 'City Screen' folder in my mod so it would use yours. Still the same problem. I then let the AI civs build their cities first and they were able to build theirs. I, on the other hand, still get a lock-up.

How many luxury resources do you have in your mod ? May be even the luxury small file in CCM2 doesn´t have enough slots if you have tons of luxury resources in your mod.

Does the freeze happen with any civ in your mod when played by a human player ?
 
I have 17 Strategic and 15 Luxury resources (for a total of 32). I have included the luxuryicons_small.pcx file.

I have started about 15 games,or so, and it has stalled with all of them.

That small luxury file should be able to host the 15 luxury resources in your mod. So it should be something different, that causes these freezes (or your proper labels text file is be overwritten by an old steam labels file in the virtual store of your pc). Unfortunately this doesn´t help you. We had a similar thread about freezes in a mod here: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/game-freezes-on-ais-turn.662192/#post-15896308 with no solution for the civer who had that problem.

Virote there mentioned the additional problem when the AI tries to load a preplaced immobile unit into a boat - but as the city in your screenshot isn´t coastal this shouldn´t be the problem in your mod. The AI is searching something it can not find.

As posted, the search for the reason that triggers freezes in a game can be very time-consuming and nasty. Per example it delayed the release of my mod CCM for nearly 1 1/2 years.
 
I have been wanting to get 'Steph's Civ 3 Expanded Editor' for some time now. Where do I find that at?

I remember, that many years ago Steph posted a warning, that his site was hacked. I don´t know if this now is fixed - but this was the reason, why I never experimented deeply with this editor.
 
I found a barracks icon while I was looking at your screenshot. Perhaps the palace was given many functions. One of them seems to be the problem. And the most likely of them is air trade.

'Barracks' and 'Airtrade' options given with the palace are working very well in my CCM mods.
