Alright.

I am Persia and I am on the top right corner and my cousin and I are really pretty far into our Civ but WE HAVE NO RUBBER.

Not one rubber tile is in our civilization or an open square on any of the islands.

The Iroquois are our neighbors to the south and we're good allies with them so we have right of passage and they have 2-4 Rubber tiles.

I went down there and built roads from their rubber tiles to my cities but that didnt work.

What can I do because I am on the last stage of development without rubber.

Is the only way to get it to take out another civilization that has it and then build a mine there?

Thanks for replies.

Culture assimilate it, trade for it or conquer it. Those really are the only three options.

The last two options speak for themselves. The first option means that if their rubber happens to be near your border, you build a city there and wait for the city borders to expand. This may or may not get the rubber tile inside your empire.

Have you tried trading? You didn't mention it. But if you and Persia are such good allies, they may have some spare loads of rubber to sell to you.

You cannot trade for a resource unless your trading partner knows the required tech, in this case replaceable parts.

Plus, trading is done via connected capitals. So you may want to connect a least 2 rubbers with Iro's capital, then build a road (harbor/airport/road 'mixed' linkage would also work if present) connection between the capitals.
[Although I'm almost sure it's possible to export a resource that is not connected to my capital, but to my trading partner's capital...:hmm:]
Note that trade connections through hostile territory (say Rome is inbetween and Iros are actually at war with Rome) will not work until peace is signed. Same with barb galleys blocking coastal trade routes.

edit: OTOH, you could use Rome's trade network for exports only (say you deliver a lux for gpt in exchange) to Iros if you are at peace with Rome and Iros are at war with Rome...

......... and you only need a road on the resource tile, no mine needed.

What's so funny about it?

I was about to ask where were you during sex ed? or just read the directions that come in the box..

Of course, I would either build up guerilla's and mass artillery to wipe out the Iroquois and take the rubber for myself, or trade for it, mass infantry and artillery and do the same ;)

I would recommend to take the rubbers by force. Trading stretegic resource is not a very good idea since in 20 turns, you don't get to build many infantry. Taking it is a more permanent solution :)

Kinda hard to build arty w/o rubber, isn't it? My suggestion would be to build a bunch of rifles and cannons and cav, give Iroquois techs by gift or trade to replaceable parts, trade them rubber, upgrade your units then go take a rubber for yourself!

Now if the title had said "Need help using rubber..."

Remember in British English, 'rubber' means eraser, it can lead to some amusing converstions with Americans - two nations seperated by a common language and all that :) .

I've called erasers "rubbers" and I'm American.

Just build about a dozen Cavalry and take some Rubber by force.
