made a custom map and played it for quite a bit til i got to the modern age. after investing >50 hours into the game i found that i messed up and placed aluminum's disappearance rate at 1, instead of zero. this means every time i find an aluminum deposit, it disappears.

my question: is there a way to salvage this by somehow editing the rules midgame, i.e. in the save game files?

the rules you play with aren't saved in the savegame. Change the rules back and then load up your old savegame and it should work OK :)

huh? how can that be possible? could you be more specific plz? im interested in find a way to change the rules in midgame.

when you edit the rules and play a game with the edited rules, that information does not go into the save game. Therefore, you can edit the rules half way through a game and carry on playing a savegame which you were playing before with different rules.

WHERE I EDIT THE RULES?

Well if you changed the disappearance rate of Aluminum, then you already know how to change the rules. Just change it back, or to 0, like you wanted to in the first place. Just don't add any units or improvements etc. while you're there, or your save game won't load up.

That must be if what you edited was the civ3mod.bic file. I'm pretty sure that some of the rules are stored in the save games that originally started as a scenario.

just what i was looking for, btw it wasn't me that was shouting. just further clarification, just change the rules in the scenario i started the game on, or there is another set of rules, civ3mod?
