so ive been trying to fix my computer for the past 6 months now, ive put 800$ into it, and brought it to two computer guys to tell me what the problem is, so far ive replaced everything in my computer except for the processor, but ive had that checked and it works perfectly. and everything is fine but my problem is now my OS is . .. .. .. .ed and i knew that once i got a new motherboard, so i bougth the windows upgrade cds, and once it gets to 100% it says it is unable to blah blah on your computer so that doesnt work, then i tried the recovery disks again, and then a brand new copy of microsoft windows xp proffesional edition, tried thats ame thing. 100% and doesnt work. i cant get a freakin OS on my computer.. can somebody maybe know what my problem is now before i spend more money?

You need to detail the problem, in perhaps a more comprehendable way. Tell us step by step what you do and what the exact problem is, not just "i cant get a freakin OS on my computer"

the exact problem is is when i try to install a new OS on my computer after it gets to 100%, i get an error message saying it cant be formatted or wont work on the system or whatnot.

Read his first post ggganz, he explicitly said 'windows upgrade cd's'

well, usually one should take care to know the topic before they post. Even if they are 'rantish'. Generally, if you ask what had already been stated, makes you look like a fool.

Have you tried as OS other than XP SP2? If you have a SATA hard drive and the default XP SP2 CD, it won't be able to install to the hard drive. Try any other OS and see if it installs - DOS, XP SP1, any variety of Linux. If so then you need to slipstream SATA drivers onto the XP SP2 CD. Or get a different type of HDD (PATA for example), but you probably don't want to do that.

Other than that I'm out of ideas. A screenshot (using a camera) or exact details may help.
