Even in a democracy game, people need effective leadership to be going, and I cannot see that. We need those contigency plans desperately, or we will have 1 turn turnchats. People are actually scheduling these turnchats in for something to happen, not to be eaten away with a turn. These many untimely interruptions kill the game. They may call it roleplay, but it is not much of CIV3 left, or the noble intentions for the DG.
If some smart people develop a set of contigency plans that cover all eventualities, and these are polled in sequence, after some limited discussion, the game would get going. The eventualities covered in the contigency plans should be sufficiently debated and polled to kill of any slight and misguided protest to halt the game.
I would also have it into the game that elections do mean more than a hollow title, that the campaign platforms people are voted in on do have a bearing on the game.
I do not feel like putting energy into anything that is perpetually nullified by minority protests, overruling both polls, discussions and elections.
This must have an end, at least a limit, somewhere, or the game deteriorates...
I think some of us feel like that, those of you that disagree - you may not respect it, but then again, the respect the other way would certainly erode over time.
I would also see personal attacks and comparisons removed from the public forum, otherwise I may need to sharpen my debating style, which hitherto has been constructive, and take on those pedestalled types with the same medicine....
