Never before seen Civ 4 screenshoots

The answer could be that different calculation rules are used.
Under the assumption that 9 gold go into science, the library and the university both could add +100% to the base value.
9 gold => 9 beakers => 18 beakers (lib) => 27 beakers (uni)

For gold, it could be different (which makes some sense):
10 gold (trade and tiles) - 9 (science) => 1 gold
1 gold get a 100% bonus due to the market => 2 gold
2 gold get a 100% bonus due to the bank => 4 gold. Voilá!

Or, it could be a 50% bonus:
1 gold get a 50% bonus due to the market => 1.5 gold (would be displayed as rounded up 2 gold)
1.5 gold get a 50% bonus due to the bank => 3.75 gold (is displayed rounded up to 4)
Wouldn't the market and bank be in effect before they were diveded? Don't recall how this worked in Civ III, but it could be

10 produced by workers
+ 5 (50%) for bank
+7 (50%) for marketplaced
= 21

plus 5 for each big bag of gold
=31

er

Now there's some interesting math. Since when does 1.5 * 1.5 = 3.75? By my calculations it equals 2.25. In other words, you somehow did either (1.5 * 1.5) + 1.5 or 1.5 * 2.5

:blush:
You are completely right. This was just wrong. :sad:

So, it seems to be still this calculation:

10 gold (trade and tiles) - 9 (science) => 1 gold
1 gold get a 100% bonus due to the market => 2 gold
2 gold get a 100% bonus due to the bank => 4 gold. Voilá!

Could be something like compounded interest.

Yeah, it seems that the 100% bonuses stack differently for gold than for science, or there's some other factor at play (like civic choices - remember one of the categories is Economics).

Even better it would be to have just a matrix.
Top - down you would have all the nations with let's say a number attached to them, and left to right you would just have the number displayed. At the crossing you could have an indicator for the current relation between two nations:
Nations.................1.......2.......3.........4
1 - Germany...........-.......P.......T.........
2 - England............P.......-.......W....
3 - France.............T.......W......-....
4 ...

P - Peace
W- War
T - Trading
etc

This way, you could have everything at first glance without the need to pick and select and deselect and re-pick.....

Heck yeah, an n x n matrix (with n as the # of players) would take care of this issue once and for all. What could be a reason not to do it? The desire to have large portriats on the screen?

Murcia is Spanish and as this screenshot shows, Spain plays in Red:

I like how the units have been scaled down too!
