This isn't much of a breakthrough - more a disappointment. It means that the Standard Model is predicting the experimentally verified Higgs pretty accurately, so it gives no clues at all as to how to fix the issues with the Standard Model/go beyond it.

Once the LHC ramps up next year we may get something more interesting though.

I don't see how this changes our choices of future technologies. I have been working under the assumption that the higgs boson exists for a while in my choice of new future ideas. I do feel though that we should at some point just make our own C2C cosmology and stick with it, even if parts of it are proven wrong later IRL.

you could always shove those later under C2C Alt-time/universe just in the same line as Clockpunk etc. or just state it's Futurepunk

I work at a small school in Mexico and we are just getting off the ground. We are trying to change the culture in the area to appreciate academics and academic achievement, so we had a whole day of pi- and pie-related activities today. It went off rather well.
