New city border gets extra tiles

The AI have just built a new city and immediately it has 14 tiles, excluding the city center. That is 8 more tiles than the usual 6. Why? I don't think it's very likely the AI spend so much gold buying those 8 tiles in one turn.

After the last patch, I've played as Persia & England and every city I found got additional tiles. I started a third game to test (forget the Civ) and I got the standard six tiles. Not sure if those two changed to be like Russia or if those two are broke.

Are you starting later than ancient era? I think you get extra tiles for later starts.

I was! I was going after those achievements for starting at different eras. I actually loved that I got extra tiles, may need to rethink those ancient eras starts. ;-)
