New City Placement

Since the only suggestions received in this discussion related to the "landbridge" and the incense tiles, these were the only areas I'm including in this poll. If anyone wishes to add a site to this map, please suggest it here and I will edit the map accordingly. As you may have gathered from the poll question, this will in fact be three seperate polls.

It looks good, Eklektikos. If we can actually get people to vote for their first choice in poll #1, their second choice in poll #2, and their third choice in poll #3, it should work out fine. I like this much better than a multi-choice.

I have posted Quick Polls to decide the placement of the first, second and third cities during the upcoming November 8th turn chat. These polls have been set to remain open for 24 hours only, so please vote as soon as possible to ensure the cities are built in the right place at the right time!

OK, we have two settlers and will have another in 5 turns. We haven't even started talking about where to make more cities. the Americans have built Denver to the NW of Valhalla and Vanir is in danger! Not only that, this thread was on the flippin' bottom of the page! I say we need to expand to the NW, place one more city along the SE coast (by the ivory) and head south towards the Jungle River and those dyes!

I definitely agree with Donsig about the Ivory (if possible) and the Dyes. In fact I think Eklektochtitlan should have been switched to Settler to be sent South to grab those Dyes. In the NW, I still think we should place between the Cattle an the Iron.

The southern settler/spear pair is heading to the last of the approved city sites - the incense on the hills. The northern pair should be settled on the tundra north and northeast of Valhalla and a library constructed post haste. The Americans have claimed our northern iron source!

We should reassess the southern settler. I think it is in Eklektochtitlan. We should send it south. We are in a race with the Indians to get the dyes. We can pop a settler out of Ek in 4 turns to grab the incense unescorted.

Excellent plan, donsig. But the incense was already approved by a poll. We can still switch Ek to a Settler.

So it was approved by a poll. It's not written in stone or in blood. I do not feel bound by a quick poll that was concluded two turn chats ago. I'm not even sure those polls have been followed. Was the last city we built on the SE coast approved by a poll? If it wasn't then that settler should have built the city by the incense.
In any event I have already submitted tentative build queues to switch Ek to a settler. :)

Yup, all the cities I have built have been according to Domestic's instructions. :p

I like the idea of the redirect and picking up the spices with an EK settler. We've got workers nearby to road down to the dye city as well. The extra luxuries will be very useful when we go anarchistic soon.

Very cool about the Settler. Yes, the other cities were properly placed. Everything is going according to plan. We definitely need the incense soon as our happiness levels will need adjustment. I sure would like to snag those Dyes.

So lead us there, Shaitan. What do we need to do in order to accomplish the redirect and secure those Dyes? And can we coordinate another spear fot the Incense Settler?

Make the next settler in EK as donsig said. Put Bremershaven on a spear before going to horses. That spear will earmark for spice city. As that's well within our lines I'm comfortable founding wihout the escort immediately there. We'd need a poll to divert the current settling pair south to grab the dyes. An "interrupt" in the settlement plan, as it were, so there won't need to be a repoll for the spice city.

OK, cool. I'll draw up a map and start a quick explaination thread, then we can have a poll.
