I wouldn't pay anything. I payed about $60 for a game that has given me grief the first 4 months I had it, then the company stopped supporting it only a little over 6 months after its release. It was shipped with memory leaks that weren't fixed until 4 months in. There are still some bugs that remain in the game as well but people just "let it slide" as if it is perfectly normal and ok to do so. Most of them are now "minor" but still annoyances and I don't care what anyone says 6 months is not old enough to make it ok to stop supporting a game. If it had been 2 years, then yeah ok I can even go with that but it has been 6 months and we are getting told, "Who cares that you spent $60 bucks on our game. If you still want support you have to pay an additional $30. So $90 bucks for a game that is rather bland in vanilla and not much flavor has been thrown in on Walords from what I can see. I do not own it but I think I have a good view of what is in it now and it isn't enough to make the game worth $90 bucks.
The rest of this is just my general feelings toward the game and its expansion not the quote. Along with some of the other stuff above. I quoted LordRahl because I thought it was a good line that shows someone's willingness to pay for a new patch on vanilla if I am not mistaken. And I believe the reason behind the offer is to hope it might make it worth it's while for the company. It is THIS that makes me ashamed at 2K, having people hoping that giving them even more money might help them achieve incentive to support the game that came out in under the last year. The whole time never hearing word from Firaxis or 2K even acknowledging that anyone is having a problem. All we ever got was 1 email address for everyone and I never heard from them personally. Without the people at this site, I would have never heard word from them if their website didn't change, so I basically would have just been let known of each patch once it was released but no information in regards to when they will get here or anything. No support.
Now I get told I must buy warlords to recieve support. Mostly adding to the scenario part which we all knew about towards the end anyways. I can't stress how much scenarios will not be touched by me. I don't care how good they are, I don't like scenarios that are not in a campaign on games. I would like for Civ to start doing some 5-10 long scenario campaigns but 4 even with warlords doesn't have enough flavor in the game to keep a campaign going for that long, and that is a short campaign really. Average campaigns usually go between 15-30 scenarios but they make an entire game and story out of it. Some hit over 15-30 though but not many. But anyways, I just don't like playing 1 scenario and that is all. I may as well play 1 random game and it will have more variety IMO.Not to mention the fact that I still believe alot of Warlords was the rest of what was going to be in Vanilla.
But can we get a patch in vanilla that at least tones down ICS? Fix some more graphical issues if possible. Technical fixes should be one of the main reasons to support a game. But I do not know any of them. But there is still plenty of things in vanilla that could also be focused on in gameplay with patches. But I have to buy an expansion pack that offers me nothing I can't do by modding my own graphics. Except vassal states that is and I honestly dont care about them. The map is too small I think to involve vassals. Can anyone out there still reading this that knows about vassal states give me their opinion on them?
The really, really short version:
1.)So it is for sure there will be no patch I take it?
2.)Can someone give me their opinion on Vassal States and why? As in please tell what you do like about them, and then a couple things you don't like about them.
Thanks.
