New Conquest: Middle East in the Reign of Heraclius

HELLO,

Im new to this. I have Civ III gold edition. Can I download your scenerio and play it or does one need Civ conquests? If I can, is there somewhere where I can go for pointers on how do it correctly. It sounds very technical. By the way, your game looks AWESOME!!!!!

Thanks....sadly though, the game only works for Civ 3 Conquests.

Sorry :(

Dang! I might have to pick a copy of that up. I like what you were able to do. Very nice work. Take care.

I got a message saying I was missing PRTO_Persian_Infantry...where can I get that? I may have installed the units wrong...I just took the set from the second d/l and put them with the first..

I can only figure that you installed them wrong....although I won't take it for granted.

What exactly did you do when installing it?

i d/led both parts, then combined the units into one unit file.

I put everything in the pt. 1 folder, then took the units from the part 2 folder and put them with pt. 1. then i copied the scenario file to my "civ content/scenarios" folder. was i supposed to leave the part 2 units in the pt.2 folder?

There is much less room for mistakes if you simply unzip part one and then part two into the Conquests/Scenarios folders, which for me is:

C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios

But I'm guessing your folders are designated differently. A straight unzip is safer.

I just checked all the pediaIcons and Editor entries for Persian Infantry...everything seems to be there. If you do everything right, it should work. :)

Good luck :goodjob:

ok, I reloaded it...didn't mess with anything, left the files exactly like they were unzipped..
I got this message:

"message entry 'text/PediaIcons.txt": ANIMNAME_PRTO_Local_Militia

1) I unzipped the two files
2) opened the second file and copied the scenario file iteself, copied it to the Scenarios folder, so that I could access it through the "Civ-Content" in the game.
3) started.
4) selected Roman Empire
5) got the above message and it shut down.

Where did you unzip the file?

Then why did you have to copy the biq-file to the scenario folder  You should be able to access it in civ-content anyway

Anyhoo, I'm sorry it isn't working out. I'm off on holiday in a few hours, so I prolly won't be able to respond for a while! :)

Im currently having a great time playing as the Umma. I have already conquered the whole Arabian penisula with my armys and soon I will try some serious enemies.

I have changed from the Umma to the Romans and I think that the scenario is a bit boring for the Romans. After seeing the screenies etc i thought i would get my ass kicked but...

I have lost ONE city so far :(. Im playing on Monarch and there is NO challange. The first turns were pretty hard and i thought i would loose my eastern empire, but after loosing the most north-eastern city the persian advance was halted by my Theodora army. I haven beaten 2 armys (and one of these was VERY big) easily and i have captured the first persian city (in the south).

The Avars aren´t a problem either and I´m currently making a small crusade against em. They are just too few and too weak.

My North-Eastern-Uber-Army has captured 4 citys(2 of these VPLs), beaten 3 small armys and im just burning everything one my way. I have just captued the persian archery wonder but im cant hold any of these citys, therefore im razing them. Soon there capital will fall.

The two aravs are killing each other and I havent seen the Umma yet.

You will have to do sth about the armys since AI suchs with armys. Maybe they should be deleted and the units would form a stock of death army. Further the Avars could need a bit help since they are pretty ridiculous. I want to get my ass kicked as Rome :P.

BTW: There is a bugged sound when you speaman militia gets attacked and the death animation of the arabian horseman multi-unit is strange too.

Those of us who hang out at Apolyton most of the time were having some difficulties getting the scenario to work because of the Armenian swordsman problem, but now I found the fix on this thread I've put a link there to it. Hope that's OK. Looking forward to giving this one the attention it deserves. Now, what about one for Justinian II...?

I have a two requests:
-post a list of what city improvement and wonders build what (took me many turns to figure out what builds what units)
-could you update the civilopedia too

I also have three questions
-why have resoures on the map if they are not needed to build units?
-why does rome start the game at the end of it's turn?
-why is the local militia so crappy? with six guys in the unit it should be better than a 1/1/0 (the no moving is neat)

I have played 10+ hours in your scenario and LOVE it.
I will play on

Thanks for the comments Tossi, Plotinus and Luckyordead.

There is actually a list, LoD, post on the first page. Sorry you miised it :)

Thanks for the compliments Plotinus and Luckyordead :D However, Tossi's criticisms are serious. I also understand that updating the civilopedia is much needed.

Updating the scenario, however, is unlikely to happen for very long time unfortunately because of my personal circumstances. :(
