New Diplomacy Game: Civdip XII - Broken Resolutions

What the hell's wrong with my realpolitik? I put the same orders in, (oh, and sorry for saying North instead of North Sea) and it automatically disbands the Russian unit in Norway. That's just not true. This has happened several times to me, a unit that must retreat is deleted from program. What gives?

And what's with all the invalid moves?

1. People are smoking too much ganja, some looney orders. It is a real shame the Russian hadn't been 18 minutes earlier getting his orders in, then we'd have had no NMRs.
2. Realpolitik is dodgy as regarding retreats if the unit is holding. I had to order them to attack something stop them being deleted AFTER having corrected loaded the orders in as instructed by Stapel.

1. Don't look at me, I gave that S*** up three years ago and quit drinking 2 and a half years ago. Don't miss it really.

2. I think that Realpolitik may treat hold orders as NMR, and resolve them under the Civil disorder rules...

If you just double click on the 'move' command box on all NMR-ing units, the RP won't auto disband them if they have a valid retreat option.

The only mistake RP makes, is treating NMRs as civil order, instead off holds.

Russia is resigning from this game.

I am not happy with the gamemastering. Why are my orders not accepted? In a similar situation another player was solicited to play Turkey when his orders were not sent at all.

I am not interested in continuing this game, and will not be interested in playing other games with kitten of chaos, certainly not with him as GM. I don't need the agravation.

The aggravation of having deadlines? Fair enough.

In the case of Turkey I could get a player without much delay, but at present I don't have a ready replacement.

I clamoured continuously for provisionals to avoid NMRs and they take all of 30 seconds to write, which to my mind is no great hardship and I talk as one who consistently avoids NMRs and has never dropped from a game, even when things have been very rough.

To the remaining players:

Russia will be in civil disorder until I can find a replacement. Given that it is the retreats and then Winter phase that shouldn't harm Russia too much.

Autumn 1903 - Resolved

Russian Army Norway - Disbanded
Italian Army Trieste - retreats to Albania

Winter 1903: builds/disbands

Austria: Can build an army in Vienna or forfeit.
Germany: Can build 1 army/fleet in Berlin or forfeit.
Italy: Disband 1 unit
Turkey: Build 1 army/fleet in Constantinople

Deadline: 8 pm GMT - Wednesday the 9th of Feb or as soon as every nation gives in orders.

Note: Russia in civil disorder.

If the Norwegian army is disbanded instead of retreated, Russia is in a bad way. Oh Slappy volunteered earlier, but with Russia in that particular predicament, its an unsavory task to undertake. Either way, that Russian NMR screwed game balance all to hell as it is. I feel like whoever wins at this point can't even claim a victory in a legitimate game.

I knew you'd come to the rescue. Since Slappy volunteered so quickly, perhaps HE could decide where to retreat the Russian unit, and what to disband??? That would allow a bit more balance and wouldn't be much trouble.

I'd like to issue that order, assuming I am now steering the Russian ship of state and assuming nobody objects.

I say if Slappy becomes the new Russian, we don't call him Czar. It's akin to the Russian Bolshevik Revolution; so we should call him Comrade-General or something.

Hey, if he's willing to keep me from getting my ass kicked up strattle my ears, I'll call him whatever he wants!

Either way its all good. If he does join I ask that you come and talk to me slappy.

Greetings to all. I will start serious diplomacy once it's made official that I have taken on the duties of office. Call me Czar or call me Tsar or call me Comerade Slappy (has a nice ring to it). You can mail me at slappy@bluebottle[dot]com to start things off and I will likely reply once I know Kitten's decision on the Russian retreat. So far nobody has objected to me issuing the order. If anyone does object, I won't fuss. I just want to know which way things are going before making any further plans.

I think it is fair enough for the Russians to have the option of choosing their retreat/disband option from Norway.

Indeed, if I had done things "properly" as by my way of doing things I should have paused the game when the NMR took place and replaced Russia then.

I'd also like to announce we have a new reserve player: Ambuel - who also accepted my offer to replace "Barron of Ideas". A big thanks :)

I've got the build orders in, so once I get the Russian retreat, I'll update things and we'll get into Spring 1904 soon. Barring any objections.

NOTE: Check group e-mail for details as regarding situation at present.

Lurker Version:

We have two new people joining the game!

1. Oh slappy (civfanatic) is replacing Barron of Ideas as Russia.
2. Ambuel (civfanatic) is joining the reserve list.

I have provided contact details at the start of this e-mail for 'oh slappy' and already some people have got started with diplomacy. I would like to thank 'oh slappy' and 'Ambuel' for so quickly offering their services after I contacted them.

Indeed, I regret only one thing. Not having paused the game to find a replacement when the NMR by Russia occurred.

To best moderate the effects of this change, I am letting 'oh slappy' choose the retreat/disband order for the Russian Army in Norway displaced by English action. This is UNLESS there is anyone opposed to this idea - if so e-mail me privately before 'oh slappy' responds with his choice of disband/retreat.

We shall then do Winter 1903 as quickly as possible (probably a case of confirm orders) and then start upon Spring 1904 ASAP. I will set a reasonably generous deadline for Spring 1904 so all players can talk with the new Russia and also so that France can return from his trip (although, he left great provisionals that cover ALOT).

Attached is the map for Autumn 1903 retreats which is (unless objection) we'll continue from.

Yours, kittenOFchaos.

Goooooooooooooooooooooo Comrade Slappy! Comrade! Comrade! YEAH!
No Czar! The Czar is dead! He fled to the South Pacific where he was found and killed by German operatives from Samoa!

Comrade Slappy it is then. Shortly, I shall begin sending out replies to those from whom I've already received salutations. I hope that nobody objects to me copying the GM as that is my standard practice.

About 90 % of mine is. I apologize to KoC for the other 10 %...

I am a bit puzzled about the last update.

KoC, could you post the most recent dpi and the most recent gif?
