New Gamescon video

You can still ignore faith, pretty decent chance more than one AI will go for a religious victory and will stop each other from winning via religion. You can concentrate on a Culture/Science victory instead.

Well, Ed has been doing much of the game presentation up to now and doing it very well. If he's too busy to be in Germany at the moment, that's fair enough - I'd prefer his energies to be going into making the game as good as possible. We'll just have to agree to disagree about the young lady's performance at yesterday's presentation.
And she isn't even marketing [emoji6] she is a producer.

In fairness to her, Brian Busatti didn't have the most impressive performance either. So many new resources and he didn't name one.

Also: "zoh can you tell us about zee new opshunz in diplomazee?" "Well we have this thing called Agendas..."

Yea I've been trying to wrap my head around playing as a civ without their own religion in a world where the game can be won by those with it.

Do we actually know, whether the number of religions in one game is limited this time? If it is not, every civ could get one, if it wanted to.

I think one of the gamescom interviews mentioned that players could run out of Great Prophets if they wait too long. So, yeah, it might be possible to miss out on founding a religion because all the great prophets are taken. But I would imagine that a player would really have to want not to found a religion for that to happen.

I have an ickling that it is the same rules.

The Religion overview has (Religions 0/5).

And given the number of beliefs, I'm sad to realise it is still based on map size and not civ size : (

Because there's 7 Follower beliefs, so the largest map size probably has 7 religions.
