Another reason to make bamboo a strategic resource -- the Chinese "chu-ko-nu", a REPEATING crossbow, made entirely of bamboo, which could fire 12 bolts in ~15 seconds*.

What about rice? isn' there a way that a field of rice could be a resource? or prehaps replace the farming field

rice should be considered a bonus resource, you may want to start a new thread on that
