New tech path

Our old tech path has expired and we should probably decide on a new one before the next turnchat

an important discussion that will have a lot of bearing on which tech path we pursue is the strategic discussion about if we should pursue a peaceful strategy, or if we should destroy our opponents with our keshiks and axemen.

I'd like to propose a tech path that would be most useful if we chose the peaceful path.

Polytheism (2)
Literature (4)
Drama (5)
Music (12)
Machinery (12)
Currency (8)
Calendar (7)
Construction (7)

If it is decided that we should go to war the tech path should be decidedly different of course, I'd probably make machinery first because if the French don't have a source of horses crossbowmen could be very useful against their melee army.

What changes would you make to this path, what paths would you propose?
 
Since it looks we can get math by trade, I would put construction much
higher:

Or on the head, or after literature (as war or peace wanted and supposed).

Part depends on what we'll be able to trade for. Which of these paths develops the most useful trade goods?

Another possible path is the ocean explorer path, aiming for caravels. No game easily at hand, so can't post an actual path.

Also what about monotheism for organized religion? If we're going to build a lot of buildings, OR can help with that.
 
Construction needs to be higher
 
We need catapults... We're at war now.
 
We already have Mathematics, Chieftess. We traded it with Ceasar.
 
Now that we're at war sooner than we wanted it, do we need to change our research path?

We're currently on Currency, due in 3 turns. If we finish it, we could slow research and gift gold to maybe prevent Germany from joining France against us and open them to tech trades.

We can switch to Construction and finish it in 7 turns, giving access to catapults and bridge building, to speed our units when they cross rivers on roads.

A 3rd option would be Machinery, giving us Crossbows.
 
I'm in favor of an immediate switch to construction we need those catapults if we're going to hit their developed cities, and we should begin producing them ASAP

A.) Machinery will also give us access to Macemen, not just Crossbows

B.) We need to switch to construction for Catapults ASAP. And beyond that, Finish up Currency.

I agree with all of this, in particular the immediate switch to Construction.

When the war with France is done, return to a peaceful path. But which one should we take? If we've captured the nearby French cities then we won't be flipping them and music isn't as valuable as it is now. That was the favorite before, now what?
