New to Civ and TBS

Thanks for the so many responses. Good to see people taking interest.

Have been playing for less than 24 hours (was reading the manual before that) and boy ! it IS the right decision.

I am sure I would have loved WC III but found the demo to be rather too much like SC. Civ IV is a fundamentally different experience and EXCEEDINGLY addictive !!!

Hope to play MP with some of you some day though right now I am not doing too well but that happens with every new game.
