new to mac and civilization, a few questions

First, I have never owned a mac until a week ago, and I have never owned civilization until yesterday. I am eager to start playing, but I have read here and there about glitches in the game and patches. So, I would like to go into the game wwith what I need. I have been told to come here and ask about patches for the game. If I hit check for updates, will that automatically give me the patches or can someone tell me or post a link to the patches I need.
I have an imac, 2.16 Ghz, core 2 duo intel processor. 10.4. (whatever was the newest update) OS.
I am not planning on playing online until I have learned more, but do intend to eventually get there

Grab the patch linked above. That is really all you need. There is a lot of experimentation going on here in terms of what PC mods will work on the mac version. You may not want to go down that road just yet yourself - just read what is being posted here.

In general, it's recommended to post game-play questions in the main Civ4 subforums rather than here. As you can see, mnost threads here deal with issues & ideas regarding Civ4 on the Macintosh. However, we do get some leeway now and then to indulge our own special community.
