New unit ability/wonder ability request thread

- A "Shield" and "Culture" option on the Citizen Settings

I would like to create, for example:

Working Citizen (requires factory): gives 1 shield/turn.
Writer (requires writing): gives 1 culture/turn.

- Wealth, Hurry Production, Citizen Mood in General Options

All these options should be on the Governament Settings to be able to difference them more.

- On Governament, corruption should be a number between 0 and 100 and have the options:

Communal, from distance and from closeness.

- On Improvements and Wonders I want a much more configurable options.

In other words, get rid of the bottons and make real settings.

I wanna make a small wonder that let me create elite units, or a Wonder that gives 25! extra moves to all sea units...

I hope this helps.

i came up with a pretty neat idea for those of us who have cities built in hills but grow very slowly.......we give workers the ability to build steppes on the hills! that way they can grow similar to their grassland/plains cousins. of course this would involve creating the language for it, a new button, animations and terrain graphics as well as reworking the game mechanics so when you work a hill into a steppe it loses its defensive bonus as well as sheilds, its a trade off, you want production or more people? with this idea you can have a mix of both and make the most of the terrain you have to work with.

i cant possibly do this myself but i'd love for someone to try to develop this i'd be a happy camper! or am i just insane???

Like the reduced stealth interception chance a similar thing should be done with jets vs prop aircraft.

mmm....dont know if this is the right thread....

But I want to implement a new kind of UNIT.
....a kind of UUU, because there was only one Bismark, and when it was sunk, there shouldnt be able to be built again....
... do you get what I mean?

I agree with Omnimower above, also I think that there should be the ability to with aeroplanes, at least in modern times have the ability to change their missions like reconnience, air superiority, ground attack, anti-shipping, etc.

Also I would like to see a plane that can be used accross water. Able to land on water only, it should also be able to be landed and launched better in cities with harbors and port facilities, maybe it could be repaired by airport, but have a better repair rate when there is a port available.

This brings me to another idea that there should be the ability to build repair buildings that can repair units faster than before. This is sort of like the idea of the blacksmith being able to repair iron swords as well as make iron weapons.

This brings me to another point, to build iron weapons there should have to be a blacksmiths in the city. Later on for steel I would say that all that should be necessary would be the ability to obtain steel from another city.

:king: of

....I also want to be able to build bridges over the tiniest bits of water... like beteween a island and the mainland, where the island almost is connected to the main.

... PIPELINES! :aargh:.... I said it before and I say it again: OIL/GAS platforms so I can use the 60% of water the game is made of!!!!!!!!!!!! :aargh:

Well, I wonder if the unit that is the king in Regicide mode is able to be changed. That way you could make a superunit, but it has to stay alive or you lose the scenario. It would be nice for modding special scenarios.

....mmm... yes, it must be in a way like the one I want, but I hope there can be a flag, so the game dont end by the wreckage of the Bismarck ;)

I think another good idea would be to allow helicopters the ability to land anywhere on the map-grid but still be classed as an air-unit. This would probably take some modification of the game's code though.

I just remembered, there should be a thing that when a unit is damaged to certain levels it affects the range. Also there should be the ability to build radar towers plus something like the 'EW Defence Work' small wonder that acts as a radar tower in all Friendly Cities. This should built on something like the code for the Barracks so that when you first invent flight it is geared to detect those, then you invent jet and the earlier ones become obsolete, finally you invent Stealth and the one for the jets is obselete. Also one built in the early flight era should have difficulty picking up a jet or a stealth aircraft. This would be something like the piston engine should not be able to track a jet aircraft with ease.

I agree with you totally, but just for the record the Bismarck was not exactly unique - it had a virtually identical sistership - The Tirpitz - same design - both 35,000 tons - the only difference was their name and builder numbers - Bismarck/BV509 and Tirpitz/S-128. But I know what you mean - why not have each infantry unit have a regiment name/number - every plane have a squadron name/number, and on and on, for each and every unit........would make the game way cooler.

I would also like the ability to have a unit that can go from coastal waters to land and carry units. Something like an army duck. Anyway, Healz.

I guess this thread doesn't really go anymore but I've got some ideas

one is to give improovments/wonders the ability to effect whst the terrain produces, like the "tree farms" and "hybrid forests" in SMAC, again it's just a lack of flexability on their part since it's possibel with the harbours and oceans but nothing else.

I don't like having to give a 50% bonus for the improovments, allow us to set it to whatever % we want. this way I could put in say a blacksmith (requires iron), and a mill (requires a river), for a 15% production bonus each...

insted on only restricting for terrain with water and rivers why not have certian things require certian terrain types in the city radius, like have the pyramids require flood plains.

I'd like to have branching upgrade paths for the city improovments and wonders, I think that way we could really add to the depth of wonders and such. upgrading the "observatory" small wonder to "copernicus's observatory", or a "collesium" to "the olympic stadium" small wonder, or upgrading the "tomb of kings" small wonder to the pyramids, or upgrading a mill to a factory to an assembly plant, or an "aqueduct" to a "water tower"... anything you can think of, butleave in the system of prerequesets that allready exists.
this way you could have exclusive wonders, no civ can have boath, just make boath upgrade from the same small wonder so for example if you turn your "tomb of kings" into "the teracotta army" you can't make the pyramids.

it would also be nice to have some way to put in something like the "supermarkets" in civ2 to lower the power of the rail roads a bit, they do too much as they are...

just to make the wonders a little more flexable than "doubles effects of improovment" put in insted "adds effect to improovment" and "counts all (improovment1) also as (improovment2)"then you could make say a wonder that caused all 'harbours' to count also as 'comercial docks' or one that adds 1:) in cities with "walls" because they feel secure

too bad I'm kind of late with all this...

what do you think?

In the editor, you can make your own unit (not a new graphic but a new unit). However you can only make your unit in these three classes... Land Sea Air
I think we should be able to choose more than one of these for our units.
