Well I have read everything I can on this site (including Col. Krakens Guide) and others about installing some new units I downloaded into my personal C3C mod I am working on. I cannot get anything or anyone of them to work to save my life, lol. So I thought I could get 1 of you gentlemen to help with this in a way I can understand so I can use some of these downloads I have. I want to replace the icon for the generic bomber in C3C with the B-52H Stratofortress for the Americans. And use the anamations that go with it. Basically, when they build a bomber (the americans) it will have all the same stats as the generic bomber it normally gets but will use the B-52 icon and etc. in the game instead of the generic bomber everyone gets.

If some one could just give me a step by step know how to install this 1 download, I can use this to learn how to do all the rest. Its frustrating not being able to use these downloads I have had for years, and I have taught myself how to do everything else almost including making my own resources, maps, artwork etc. So if someone would not mind taking a little time to save an old mans sanity lol I would greatly appreciate it, ty for taking the time to read my post.

You need to copy the same folder structure as Civ3 does.

As far as using the same stats, you can just copy the Bomber unit file in Editor.

Art - Units: Put the B-52H Stratofortress folder here which contains the animations. Art - Civilopedia - Icons - Units: Here is where the civilopedia icons go ( ie. Large and Small image files)

Now you need the Pediaicons and Civilopedia txt files located in the Text Folder of I assume you are using Conquests Expansion, so Conquests - Text. Copy these to your mod Text folder.

Text -

In the Pediaicons txt file, you need to put 2 lines for this new unit under the area that is left by Firaxis.

Example: Doesnt have to be exactly like this.
-This area tells the game what to show when you open up the civilopedia of the unit in the top right.
#ICON_PRTO_B-52H_Stratofortress - PRTO - is the line for the editor to link to the unit
art\civilopedia\icons\units\B-252H_StratofortressLG.pcx
art\civilopedia\icons\units\B-252H_StratofortressSM.pcx

2nd location - The Animations

#ANIMNAME_PRTO_B-52H_Stratofortress - This is at the bottom of pediaicons txt
B-52H Stratofortress - This has to be the exact same name as the unit folder in Art - Units

For the unit icon that shows up when your in a city and in other locations you need to edit the units_32 with a editing program like GIMP.
You then have the main units_32 open and the unit's units_32 file open. Copy the unit's units_32 image and paste it into one of the boxes open in the main units_32. You then place this in the spot Firaxis did, Art - Units. If you dont want to do this process at this time, you can use one of the default unit icons as a placeholder.

Firaxis set it up so it looks to the mod folder for files, if files are not there it defaults to the default files. So if you just wanted to have the same bomber unit but change the look and animations with minor editing, you could just rename the custom unit files to the same names as all of the bomber units files and put in the same spots in your mod folder, and civ3 will instead choose yours over the default files. But since you want this unit to be unique to the Americans then you have to create a new unit.

TYVM Nathiri, going to try it now, wish me luck, lol, if I do this right and it works, I will beable to rise above my computer caveman status. Ty for taking the time to post this reply, I am in your debt sir, ty. 8)
