New unit: Kirov

the ratio from the side-view is good BUT the superstructure is quite short, the rear structure is also smaller should be longer..., and the sides of the superstructure is not so clean, it's actually quite messy, meaning the superstructure stretches starboard to starboard... and one thing, make it very messy. And the RADAR on the top is not a solid plate.... One thing left, the location is a bit off centered, the mast of the ship should be at the very center, but right now it's a bit back, making everything else off-location

Dont get me wrong, i'm not "insulting" your work, in fact, i love it, all your subs are in my MOD, but this Kirov just needs a few final touches to add to the realism. Keep it up, i look forward to your Sovremeny and Slava

Im not taking it as an insult I like to getting the feedback.
Im allso incorporating the changes into my next ships
The problem whit the radar is having it the "real" way is that it partially disappears
I agree that the ship needs to be redone, and I am modifying the model right now, it will take some time though

For the Radar, can't you make like a wire-fence-like structure...

and dont forget the many fire-control RADAR, the little orbs all around the ship

And many Russian ships, the modern ones have one thing in common is that they all use the AK-130 twin mounting 130mm artillery turrets

You couldnt do a flc where the cruiser has its guns firing. I think the unit is great and i like the flc of the missiles firing, but i would like to use that as attack a and then have an anim for attack b with its guns firing.

"Yeah, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that one." (The movie reference is . . . Bill Lumberg, "Office Space" . . . I think his first name was Bill.)

In my opinion this Kirov is already a bit too realistic. It appears to me that the CivIII units are a bit unrealistic. The guns and tower structures look way too big for the CivIII ships--especially the battleship. I think these features are intentionally made too big so that they are detectable at the small size of the units in CivIII. I personally would like Akula to exaggerate the features of his ships to match the CivIII units. But I'll take them as they are too! :D

I think the ship looks great. I'm not really a stickler for accuracy on the armament, besides the fact that if it fires missiles it should fire missiles. However, if I could make one suggestion is to resize its dimensions. I know they are highly accurate but Civ III ships arn't. Making it wider and not so skinny would do a lot for the ship. Also raising it out of the water would help. I think making it more congruent with the dimensions and size of CivIII ships would do well to intergrate it further into the game. Either way you go, its better then I could do.

The problem is just that the ship only carries two 100mm-130mm (depending on type) and those are even plased on the rear deck (in this case the ship will properbly need the flag turn before atack) furthermore the size of the guns make them look tine in game.
Im looking into it right now.

The model im working on right now looks a lot more realistic, but it is allso a lot wider (stil not as wide as the CIV3), i'll post a previev of the model here later

Maybe they are placed this way cos the russians are always retreating:lol:

no because all the heavy fire power are on front, with SS-N-19 shipwrecks having a range of 500km and final attack speed of 3.5 mach, who needs guns for offensive and or defensive purposes

I know I know, i was joking. I know these things are really powerful and i wouldnt want to encounter one in a fight.

If you do modify this unit Akula, please let me know so I can update my site. Actually, replying should get me subscribed so I may keep up myself.

The detail is really nice. The lighter coloring is nice too. It doesn't quite have the essence of being a "Battlecruiser". It looks more like a guided missile destroyer.

Don't get me wrong! It's absolutely magnificient, just trying to lend constructive criticism.

Actually the russian navy designate this one as a heavy missile cruiser, NATO designates it as a battlecruiser
Criticism is appreciated as helps you getting better

It looks good. It looks much more detailed and looks in better preportion with the CivIII units. I think darkening the metal color from its bright grey to a darker duller grey may make it stand out more. I think the color of the CivIII naval units grey would be best, so it looks like it's higher out of the water instead of blending in lightly.

I would like a new attack for this Unit, the one you had for an old one was not as great as the model.

This is awesome, man. It really feels good to have that mostrosity floating in my CIV III. I dont think i have much to say about now, i give up.... but actually just one thing, you will textur the ship, right? That's all i have to say.

Could you make a missile storm for attack and/ bombard

It looks great, but the fore deck looks a bit on the short side. Im sure it would be really easy to extend it ever so slightly.

Okay i have lenghtened the front deck by 4,5% reduced the grey colors by 15% and im trying to make a missile volley for the atack/ bombard
