New Unit Maker with Palette Issues

no problem, I could make one pretty quick. :)
where will the civcolour be?

Also, with AA turned off your unit will be a bit "rough" around the edges but it will make my job easier :D

Oh, BTW, I'll only need one storyboard unless there are deifferences in the model for different actions. :)

Ok, here's your storyboard with the palette applied, I tested it out in flictser and it works good :)
It looks GREAT too :goodjob:

Yes, I would reccomend having AA turned on, it makes your unit looks "smoother" overall but can be a pain sometimes

excellent, I look forward to seeing this unit in action :D

what was the difference between my palette and yours?

Couldn't tell ya. I've made about 100 or so in the last 24 hrs, and none of them seemed to work for me. I swear I even had some that looked just like yours Guess you've just got the magic touch. :)

Thanks again Dease :D

BTW, I'm guessing I should leave anti-aliasing off for the rest of my storyboards too now that my palette was made from a storyboard without it.

Dease,
I swear I'm gonna put my fist through my computer. :( I just created the storyboard for the fortify action. I applied the exact same palette that you just gave me, and my preview looks just like it did before... completely f 'd up.

Is there a step I'm missing? Did you alter the storyboard somehow while you were working with it?

Ok, the problem seems to be in how you apply the palette so here's how I do it, try my way and see if it works for you
  1. Create a new storyboard and FXM file with flicster
  2. Open your 24bit storyboard(not the one created by flicster) in PSP and apply the palette
  3. Then save your storyboard in .pcx format OVERWRITING the storyboard from flicster
  4. open it up in flicster and it should work :)

OK, sounds good.
But what do you mean by "apply the palette?"
in psp go to image->palette->load palette (or just hit shift-O IIRC) either way, when you've opened the load palette dialog select your palette and hit ok.
if you can't seem to find your palette then move the palette into my documents/my psp files/palettes. That directory is where it is on my computer, may be somewheres else depending on your version. :)

Allright, couldn't get it to work in FLICster, but somehow got it to work in CIV3FLCEDIT!!!

Dease, I could kiss you... but I'm not that type of guy, and I'm a long way from Nova Scotia. :)

Thanks again. I know I've probably taken up half of your day, but I really appreciate you helping me out like this. I'll probably devote a whole paragraph to you or something when I finally get this unit done. ;)

BTW, is there a good FLCtoGIF program around the site so I can post previews of the animations?

Not a problem, it's much more interesting than math homework

As for flc to gif, I think the only free utility that can do that is included in the download for openfx and is called FLCtoGIF ;) Although it's pretty bad IMO, it seems to just overlay all previous frames onto the current frame :crazyeye:

The way I make my previews is I rerender one diretion of the animation as single frame gifs, crop off all the excess magenta then combine them using unFREEze
Or you could just re-render it as a gif animation if there's not too much excess magenta.
