new unit: modern infantry

any chance of us getting a paradrop animation for this guy? he is so beautiful I hate having to use the green paratrooper animation for his paradrop. :(

Ok, I´ll give it a try. I will need the drop animation for my next unit anyway. What I will do is take the parachute from the original unit and try to match the animation with the modern infantry. This sounds easier than it is, don´t know how long this will take (I´m also working on another unit).

by another unit are you talking about your fantastic FF Trooper or your Alpine Trooper? The FF Trooper is, like this unit, truly a work of art. I can only assume that the Alpine unit will be equally impressive.

Thank you.
I mean the unit after the FF Soldier. It will be some kind of special force unit but not an alpine trooper like in civ2.

The animation for the paradrop is almost complete. I will now need to tweak it and then paste it in the original animation. This may take a while.

I was calling it an Alpine Trooper only because you mentioned it would be a cold-whether Special Forces unit.

Balou:
Amazing unit! I would also like to see the paradrop animation. I think it is one of the best done units out there with great sound and animation.

(just registered here to tell you that :))

Thank you very much Atahualpa and welcome to the boards ;)
The drop animation is now done. I opened a new thread for it in the unit graphics forum. Just click the link in my signature to go there.

Nder:
You are right there. It will be a cold-weather special operations unit, inspired by the soldiers from Metal Gear Solid 1. But I think it could also be used as a general special force unit.

Balou,

So glad you decided to do the paradrop animation for the Modern Infantry. Can I suggest another possible unit for when you finish the cold-whether unit? How bout a James Bond type Covert Operative. He could use the Black Paratrooper Drop animation but when he lands he strips the jumpsuit and is wearing a Tuxedo. He could either tap a cigarette case and smoke or drink a martini for the fidget. It owuld be a very cool unit. :)

Have you started work on the Cold-Whether/Alpine ;) trooper? If so, could we have a sneak preview?

Nder:
I have the basic model for the special force unit ready but the arms are still missing as well as most of the details, so there is nothing worth posting here so far.

Kal-el:
I´m not sure what I will do after the special force unit. That´s still one and a half unit to go until then, anyway.
I was also thinking about doing some Halo units, hmm, but I don´t know.

I also thought about a secret agent unit but I don´t like the fact that it could not be used the way it is originally designed. If there was the possibility to use spies like in civ2 I would really like to do this unit. (maybe in ptw there are more unit abilities)
However, I downloaded the images you posted a while ago and since then they stay in my reference folder because I may need them in the future ;)

the spy/secret agent/covert operative is actually a pretty cool unit.

As the only land units with invisible and see invisible and the hidden nationality flag they become a very useful tool for disrupting enemy infrastructure and spying out enemy troop movements.

If you give them a minimal attack value they will be able to take over undefended cities.

Anyway, glad you are at least aware of the unit request. :D

I previewed this unit in FLICSter, and this is what I saw:

zulu: very strange, I just checked it out in flicster and on my pc the civcolors work fine. They have always worked normally in game for me.
