New Voting System?

" Heck, I was hanging around these forums for almost a year before I knew what a pm was!"

And I supported you for President? haha j/k Donsig

I think that pm your vote idea isn't too bad of an idea, however it is nice to see how your vote changed the poll. What you could do is, when you pm the person with your vote, they could then sent you a link to the poll results. Then the votes are checked and you get to see the results of the poll so far. This may sound crazy but it sounded good in my head.:crazyeye:

It might be possible to actually increase voter turn-out per position, if each PM vote list all of one's vote for said position. The ballot would look something like this:

President: Cheiftess
Domestic Minister: Cyc
Military Minister: Falcon02

That was the option I was first proposing.

Then, I thought that maybe it should only be for elections that were previously troublesome.

I would prefer the 'all elections' method rather than specific ones. :)

But, the premise would be the same. There would be a link in the post for the PM to be made. Can't get much simplier than that. ;)

So you're saying one Election post listing all positions with the prospective candidates with a link to the voting ballot (email to you). That sounds good to me. You'd have to tally the 14 or so votes on about 25 - 30 emails, and we'd have to put an immense amount of trust in you. But I like it.

Was it you, Shaitan, that said Term #5 would only last about 2 weeks? Wouldn't this be a prime test term for a new Election System?

Yes, our estimates are that Term #5 will only last a couple of weeks. A good test would be to do just a couple of elections with a new system. But why test for it unless you want to change to it and why would we want to change to it when the existing system works fine?

But there are more that thing the current system is fine, and we are a democracy.

A conclusion that's based on conjecture is not valid. There has only been a single point raised against the current system and that is the unfounded speculation by one disgruntled citizen that ballots were being stuffed. First, this is totally unfounded. Second, a PM system will not affect ballot stuffing in the least.

What other reason is there for a change in the voting system? That it will increase participation? Instead of clicking an option and a button, people now will have to go through the PM system. Making a process more difficult does not seem to lend itself to increasing participation.

At least take a poll to get some generalized feedback.

I am curious as to how many people is *enough*. Perhaps we should have a poll on this issue.

I would also like to call, once again, for some results from the investigation into the previous elections. Without these results I am inclined to think it is the losers of the elections who are not happy with the system.

  Yeah, like the winners would complain.... :p

But the question is are the losers complaining because they lost unfairly or just because they lost?
