New way to deal with spyware!

I think SpyBot tries to block spyware from ever being installed as well by having an immunise option which seems to block particular sites on IE.

Quite old, really...I downloaded this way back in August last year, when it was still at version 2.6.1. It only had 800 some items in its database...now it has nearly 3000 and has advanced to version 3.1.0. It is indeed very cool, although I have had few problems with tracking cookies or spyware.

Thanks to Spybot, Adaware 6.0 & SpywareBlaster, when I run Spybot & Adaware now, I get few if any hits. And this is running maybe once a month, when I remember to clean it up. Before the new version of Spybot & Spywareblaster, I was getting at least a dozen hits on both SB & AA6.0, running once or twice a week.

Great tools to have. Too bad we need them.

Using a popup blocker, the immunisation function and increasing the security settings does seem to minimise spyware since nothing seems to be found anymore...

Quite true! Since I have Spybot and Popup Killer installed, none has been found. :goodjob:

Yeah but it doesn't catch everything. Spybot suggests using Spyblaster itself. Saying it will ofer you more protection. :)

Well yeah. The last time I had Spybot on my system, it only blocked 500 some items, while Blaster had over 1600 items that it could block. Six months later...I don't know. Someone with Spybot, please compare. As of June 23, 2004, Spyware Blaster has 3,022 items in its DB.

According to the latest version of Spybot, I've got 1165 bad processes blacklisted. Spyware blaster does have more, but Spybot also has different functions. They do work well together.

When I run Spybot, it tells that there are 14540
But then it doesn't look for spyware only - see picture.

Hmm...Immunize shows 1930-something products immunized against. When I hover over the Spybot S&D Tray icon, it shows me the 1165 number.

What tab are you getting that info from?

I have version 1.3. Click on Tools and then check Resident. It shows up in Taskmgr as TeaTimer.exe.

I have different numbers up there. Probably different websites visited? I dunno.

Could be.... 1.3 is pretty cool. Didn't like the resident at first, but it stops registry changes and gives more protection. Pretty useful little program, if you ask me.

I've just finished downloading 1.3 and Spyblaster. Thanks for the link and the info

I'm DL 1.3 now. 4MB of DL. :( Intresting that there are 16 mirriors for DL this thing from.:hmm: Thank god for get right. :)

SpywareBlaster is a good product and comes highly recommended by virtually all of the people who haunt the anti-adware/spyware forums.

There are so many mirrors for the downloads because the sites are often the victims of DOS attacks allegedly at the hands of the people who create spyware.....
