Thx, but as you see there is still quite a bit to do. I haven't really thought about the terrain graphics yet, just bought something here and there. I think I will give it a major overhaul before the scenario is finished.

Tomorrow's the big day, I am returning to Denmark.
In effect, this will probably be my last post until sometime in the better half of February. Just to let you know.

Why do the Canadian Cities have the French Tricolour flying?

My dear chap, the Canadians are a dominion of the British Empire and should fly the Maple Leaf if not the Union Jack!

Well Canada is part of the "Minor Allies"-civ. And as France is the largest and most important country in this civ he chooses the Tricolore, like Kobayashi did.

You can't include Canada into the Brits because at this time Canada was already independent. So in my opinion he made the right decision.

quite so, but, there are a few technicalities which make having canada part of the minor allies a little difficult.
For instance, Canada, as did australia, india and egypt, fought alongside british soldiers. If your going to make canada independent, your going to have to find a way to still make canadian troops fight directly for the brits.
And, on the historical side of things, canada voted to join WW2 with the british in 1939, when it started, along with australia who were also "independant" by this time. This mean that the canadians did actively fight with the british from day one, not with the french, not with any other of the minor allies. As part of the commonwealth, the canadians felt that they were still part of the "British Empire" and owed loyalty to the queen (as they still do, along with the rest of the commonwealth) and therfore decided to join the fight with the british.
But, as to what he wants to do in his scenario, its up to him, after all, were not making it for him. Just dont invent history to prove a point.

he could of course just make a few units owned by the English that are named Canadian Infantery or Australain Division or something, or just Minor Allied Division. Putting those countries with the English would give them technological and economical advances they really shouldn't have, right?

That's only because the anglophone-part in Canada is the majority

They dream from the good old days when the mothercountry France held her nursing and protecting hand above Candia. This was before the Redcoats swamped the land

I think it's necessary for the playability issue. When the Minor civ is intended to be played by a human they need an industrial powerbase. We all know France is a perfect centre of production but when the Germans stormed whole Europe the game is as good as over for the player. But as long as he has a possession in Canada he can fight back.

But in the end you're right BKA is the designer and it's up to him I just wanted to express my support and furthermore I like the Tricolore in whole Canada

Is that why Quebec to this day has never separated despite constant news stories of that happeneing over at least the past 30 years? What a bunch of Hog wash. Nobody likes the French anyway except for the French of course!

Now back on topic. I think the debate here is playability vs historic accuracy. I prefer accuracy but only if it doesn't screw up playability.

And The Limey is absoulutely correct. The British Commonwealth Nations contributed A LOT to the British war effort.

i think the idea of giving the brits a few minor allies units would be a good idea, and might i suggest that the minor allies unit be made up of french, australian and canadian infantry all in one? like in fmk's lebensraum with the american infantry, with three units on the same tile, but with different colours for each of the three most important nations.
o, and de montcalm, no hard feelings, but being british myself i cant help feel that every other nation in the world is somehow missing out........

Ok, maybe it's time I explain my self. (Rushing to public computer, pushing everybody aside)

I have chosen the Canadians to be Minor Allied for the following reasons: (which de Montcalm actually has explained already)

1) Inspite of being in the commonwealth they were independent
2) It will give the British too much wealth, tech and ressources.

Yes, the British employed Australians, Canadians, Poles, Africans and Indians in their armies which often became some of the most tenacious units in battle. In my scenario the minor Allies together with the Minor Axis will have their own infantry unit called Minor Allies/Minor Axis Infantry. This will be a weaker infantry unit that the 5 major powers can produce. My first thoughts was that only the minor powers would be able to produce minor units, but I think your discussion has highligtened the need for Britain (and also Germany I guess) to be able to produce Minor infantry. This would then symbolize the British having Poles, Indians etc. in their armies and Germany having Italians, Romanians, Hungarians in theirs.
