Newbe question:

when I try to disband scouts the advisor says "these are our people!?!" and suggest I don't.
Are there ill effect (such as unhappiness) from disbanding scouts? What do people do whith their scouts once they have the whole map?

That's just a pop up incase you accidently click on the disband when meaning to click on fortify(I do it all the time, don't ask).

No ill effects. Once I have the whole map I............disband them.

I actually once pressed "d", meaning "f", then, thinkin I had pressed "f", pressed enter to end my turn. Fairly possible in the beginning game.

If you're expansionist and you capture another civ's scout, will it become a "captured" scout like, say, a worker? Or will it still be disbanded, regardless of my trait?

It will become a slave worker. Thats it..
Same way when you capture enemy settler, it also becomes an enslaved worker.

Actually settler = 2 slave workers.

Thanks for the answer...
The advisor had me so paranoied that I was playing with modified the rules so that scouts could join cities.
The strange thing is that even if you modify the scenario so that scouts can join the city, they don't increase the population at all

You'd probably have to make the scouts cost population to build in order for them to increase pop when dispanded...
